actual science.
what is 'actual science'? is it that because boats disappear hull first then therefore we live on a giant ball spinning 1000 miles per hour west to east and 65000 miles per hour around the sun and hundreds of thousands of miles per hour around the galaxy?

I'm just fascinated about the wall of ice.

We know how gravity works. We know the relationship between mass and density. In fact, it is gravity, mass and density that have provided us with things like stars, elements (which are produced when massive stars die), our planet's magnetic field, to name but a few scientific ideas, theories and observations that currently provide us with the best working model of the universe.

If you have an alternative theory that explains the facts then by all means, present it.

You think that everything we have observed about the universe and our place in it, comes from watching a boat disappear over the horizon?

And you're still confusing the limitations of your natural eyesight, with observing the curvature of the Earth.

But that's just one of the pieces of evidence that supports the Earth being an oblate spheroid.
Not sure why it's the only one you try to argue against... Why do you ignore the rest?

Disinformation cycle as part of counterintelligence programs designed to obfuscate the truth about actual lies which have been perpetrated against civilisation. No other logical reason for the existence of such bullshit.

you can make a model of the flat earth - essentially water in a dish. can you make a model of the sphere earth? ie. a ball rotating at what, 1100 miles an hour, with water clinging to it?

Good thing I've studied physics for ages! The key concept is acceleration:

Centripetal acceleration = (v^2)/r OR (w^2)*r (v = velocity, w = angular velocity, r = radius and v = w*r)

At the equator, v = 463 m/s and r = 6,378,000 m (using metres and seconds). The centripetal acceleration is

a = (463^2)/6378000 = 0.034 m/s^2 - much less than gravity of 9.8 m/s^2 so water doesn't fly off into space :)

This effect means that objects of the same mass weigh slightly more at the poles compared to the equator.

please help me understand in simpler terms if this model can be made because that just took me back to year 10 physics which were dark times

What force made the apple fall on Newton's head. Well it's the force that stops everything flying out into space.

why doesn't that force keep water stuck to this sphere earth model that we hypothetically created?? assuming if we got it rotating at such a speed and it didn't stick..

Sorry simba, but you have such a gap in your knowledge of basic physics, that it's difficult to explain it to you.

By your own logic, the water is needed to be held in a dish...
Can your hypothetical explain tidal patterns?

What you're asking, is if we conduct an experiment on Earth... why Earth's gravity doesn't make a ball of water and soil sit together at a point on it's surface.

Werewolf was explaining to you that the 'centrifugal force' is not enough to overcome Earth's gravity.
Not that it was the spinning force that kept the water on Earth.

The other massive point, is that the mass of the Earth is a metric **** ton larger than any mass you can create from the Earth, for your hypothetical experiment.

But, if we get to a distance away from earth, great enough that Earth's gravitational pull is very weak, we can observe this;

Now, don't confuse that with gravity.
I'm just showing you your hypothetical, further away from Earth's gravity.

Think about a glass of water. You start spinning the glass of water and - contrary to the force of gravity, water clings to the inside of the glass. The force created by the spinning glass is greater than the impact of gravity on the water.

But you missed the experiment with the water on plate they did that proved the universe is sitting on the back of a tortoise.

Earth is not rotating fast enough for water (or people) to fly off. It would have to be spinning at least 17 times faster!

because it's commonly spouted and provably wrong.

also massive lols at the dude using mathematical formulas that are predicated on the assumption the earth is a ball to prove that the earth is a... ball

So potentially the Blue Origin flights in 2017 (if it goes ahead as scheduled) will lift the lid on the theory, or are they just all part of the big cover up as well......

Wrong. I proved Earth does not spin fast enough for water to fly off. Would you like to point out the mistake in my calculations?

Far out...

For someone so smug, you're pretty ignorant.

OK. Why can't I stand on top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and see the Eiffel Tower? (Around 7000km) Doesn't matter how powerful a telescope I use, I cannot see it...
But I can see the moon... (Around 364,000km [52x Paris to Dubai]).

Why can you only see a certain distance, but if you increase the height you view something from, you can see further?
kqU3x4a.jpg

Why can I not see something on the other "end" of the Earth, no matter how high? Regardless of viewing distance?

Why do we need to bounce signals off satellites to communicate with the other "end" of the world?

Why has no one ever seen the edge of the world?

You seem to think you've hit on something, because your eyesight doesn't work as well as a telescope... but you haven't
I mean, if it's "provably wrong", prove it...

These are questions I'd like katana to answer please

have you ever tried to see the eifel tower from on top of the burj khalifa or are you just saying that to strengthen your point?
