I am still waiting for this proof the Earth is round by going outside...I need a good laugh.

The old science board doesn't allow discussion, why does this board let those over here? Both I guess.
If people don't support flat earth,go to a relevant thread, simple.

This thread isn't open minded...go to page 92.This board is more liberal-minded & open-ended....Something science often claims to be, but seldom ever is.....That's why.
Go to page 92?You lost me with the Majak Daw stuff.....
farewell and good luck.
A mile and a nautical mile are not the same unit of measurement. The conventions establishing the length of each unit of measurement are different (a mile is based on paces, a nautical mile based on the circumference of the earth), even though they both share the word "mile" in the term.Riddle me this.
If I go outside and walk a mile I will cover
1609 metres.
If I go in the ocean and swim a mile I will cover 1852 metres.
Why?
Good answer,so seeing that the nautical mile is based on the circumference of the earth I have to conclude that the earth isn't flat.A mile and a nautical mile are not the same unit of measurement. This is the equivalent of being perplexed by the difference in amount held by a teaspoon and a tablespoon even though they are both spoons.

Hey, enough of that factual nonsense, get back on theme here! The earth is a dinner plate, I'm a 3rd generation reptilian and my great granddaughter has recently time traveled back from the future to visit me for Christmas...!!!

Tidal & current resistance.![]()
And you are welcome to conclude the earth is any shape you wish.Good answer,so seeing that the nautical mile is based on the circumference of the earth I have to conclude that the earth isn't flat.
Are you going to tell your grand daughter you concentrate on topics you don't even believe in lol.Hey, enough of that factual nonsense, get back on theme here! I am intrigued by this answer. Can you explain it to me?
But how does the speed of travel alter the distance of travel?Sure...Most people can walk faster than they can swim, owing to less resistance….duh.
Lol...an American on an Australian website lecturing about distance and travel. But how does the speed of travel alter the distance of travel?
No big deal, obviously the FES is a big organisation and I'm just one drop in the ocean. And you are welcome to conclude the earth is any shape you wish.
At the FES our members conclude it is flat...what's the big deal?
And merry Christmas to you.No big deal, obviously the FES is a big organisation and I'm just one drop in the ocean.
