yet i think it maybe be theoretically possible for the earth to be flat and there to still be satellites and the like

We only see 57% of the moon surface due to it being tidal locked.

On a flat earth we should see more of the top and bottom of if it were round and spherical.

If it is a flat disc we would be able to see that at certain angle too.

So how does the centre of the earth (what is commonly called the North Pole) go through periods of time when it receives no sunlight for months on end and then has sunset for months.

I'm asking you because you are putting forward a suggestion that differs from what is taught to people. You don't get a free ride by saying something that goes against the grain of thinking then expecting others to tell you the reasons and explanations behind it.

In that model that only shows what happens when they are able to sunlight for several months at a time. What happens when they can't see sunlight for months at a time?

Absolutely ridculous, so for a ship to circle the world, lets say from japan to japan, one has to sail through the arctic circle??? you realise that is not possible right? 9 months a year the temperatures are below -40 C.
