Again, so what? A lot of people came up with the same errors, probably because the world does look flat at first glance. It's not like they all thought something that isn't already a known illusion. I bet they all thought there was a blue sky instead of atmospheric UV scattering too FFS.

Even thousands of years ago people who put their mind to it were able to guess the radius of the Earth to within a few miles (?) based on calculating the height and distance at which things disappeared over the horizon. It just requires a bit of calculation rather than going on first impressions.

The closest he came to Antartica was his second voyage (green).
Not 60,000 km and not alongside it.
There's no "entry point" because Antartica covers the entire south pole.

Pretty much sums up flat earthers. It is just an inherent need to defy conformity and rail against authority. No matter how stupid it makes them look.
