Never thought of that. Might be best to don a stack hat while you're up there Total Power, to protect the old bonce against dome collision.

Just quietly, I reckon this dome might be why we lose so many ships and planes in that Bermuda triangle. Triangle my arse! Some bastard hasn't siliconed up the gap between the dome and the ice wall properly, and ships/planes are steering clear through it, never to be seen again.

Or they may have their navigation systems set to 'round earth' mode, inadvertently lined up the wall or dome, and then ...****en BANG!

In order for FE theory to be taken as an equal or greater idea to conventional explanations for mechanics such as the day/night cycle, the appearance of the sun and moon in the sky, constellations, and why we don't go flying off the planet, its supporters need to demonstrate, using evidence, compelling reasons for us to abandon centuries of study and research.

The first obstacle? Gravity. The simplest explanation for why we don't go flying off the earth? There is a force acting upon us that keeps our feet on the ground. We can test this by throwing a ball in the air. What happens? It comes back down again. Contrast this with astronauts in space, where earth's gravity has considerably less of an impact upon the human body - objects float.

If universal acceleration is to be taken seriously, how can objects float - how can we even get into space - when rockets are competing against constant acceleration of the ground beneath them? Anything being launched into space would have to continue to accelerate, and fuel would eventually run out, causing obvious problems.

Gravity also provides the basis for explanations of how the sun is powered. Under conventional theories, gravity compresses enough mass into a dense, spherical arrangement, until the pressure and heat triggers hydrogen-helium fusion. Fusion is behind the hydrogen bomb, so it is a known quanity.

We can measure the energy output from the sun. We know how much heat is deposited upon the earth's surface. This is again, a known quantity. What mechanism powers the sun in the FE scenario?

What also provides the means for universal acceleration? What drives it? Repulsion from other universes? What is the evidence for this?

How is a new observer to this theory supposed to make sense of it if you guys can't even decide on what the theory is and there's no reliable, well documented authoritative information source? Theres a reason why proper science works and why this piecemeal, disorganised, fiction based imagineering doesn't. So far I haven't seen a shred of infallible evidence for FE - just smoke and mirrors.

That acceleration thing was first discovered by some middle manager as he boarded an elevator and decided to be a smart arse and jump up as it was hurtling to the 14th floor...at first he thought it was India.

One thing has me kinda thinking though. If the Earth is coming up to meet you at 9.81 m/s, and the elevator is traveling at a hypothetical 9.81 m/s, and you jump up at a rate of 9.81 m/s, then the laws of flat earth theory dictate that your feet should theoretically never leave the ground. Kind of a double whammy effect.

Buggered if I know what happens if you jump as the elevator is descending, coz with gravity you kinda get a floating sensation, whereas the universal acceleration theory should cancel out the downward movement of the elevator, and you should theoretically be floating in mid air until the elevator stops, at which time you coming crashing down with a loud wallop.

When I do physics by head aches, so I shall retire from the thread and have a cup of tea and a lie down.
