I do love to make some paella. As long as I remember to say it right.

Very true...….my brothers mother in law always cracks it when I say Jamón & Chorizo in my Aussie accent. :p

I was out last night for Dinner with friends, one of them bought a Red and asked me to give it a try (they hid the label).
It was a little sweeter than most Reds but was quite enjoyable and went well with the steak I was having
Later I discovered it was a $5 Red from Coles...blew me away!!!
My sister drinks Moscato She’s been buying Brown Brothers for years. 15 bucks a bottle normally I think.
Now she’s drinking $5 Aldi Moscato and says it taste better.
I don’t drink any wine so wouldn’t know.
But it certainly shows that price is no indicator of quality.

These two wines from Aldi are an absolute steal.

If you can get your hands on the red buy the lot...….believe me.

I am devastated!!! My butcher of 30 years is closing their doors tomorrow.

Knew the size of my cuts and trimming, aged my meat for me and would mince to my specs.

Any recommendations for the Northern suburbs would be appreciated.

Some of our 'cheaper' wines would rate very highly against far more expensive overseas wines
We are truly fortunate

Edit: And some of Aldi's cheaper wines have won some very prodigious/prestigious awards

Aldi, is like, the best kept secret of all time
At times, you can buy 21 year old scotch for $60

Between my father in law and I we have cleaned up all of that red wine in the Northern Suburbs. :drunk:

Took the mother in law shopping this arvo.
Non of those in stock.

Doesn’t surprise me B_W Aldi are very smart operators......constantly having new items every week draws in the customers.

They have a very simple (and very successful) business model
* Reasonably good quality
* Sell it cheaper than anyone else
* Refresh the product lines

Spot on B J

I would have like your post but the god complex Tigers mod has taken away my rights.

RIP Anthony Bourdain

I read this book just before I went into the restaurant business with my father in law.

Coming from a corporate environment I wanted to go into it with “eyes wide open”

I didn’t understand what I was getting into after reading the book but at the end of our six years in the industry his book resonated with me.

RIP A.Bourdain

Funny place is Cranbourne.
Kelly's Hotel is 'a laugh a minute' kind of place
Kelly's is one of the few places that does nice food up here. Always packed as well. If I didn't have a young son and a super busy lawyer wife I would open a nice cafe in Cranbourne, the food options really are terrible unless it's Indian or Sri Lankan and my theory is people will always pay good money for good food.

Pumpkin curry - posted by popular request :)
1st time I've used this recipe - cooked it yesterday - eat today
Doubled the quantity - family function ....
Indian supermarkets sell dried mango powder

Half chilli flakes and half fresh chilli
Added red capsicum and flaked almonds
