If you can't access the link above (or can't be arsed) here's the main points:
  • Eddie and Sam to host series of Footy Show specials throughout the year (about four or five, will include Round 1 show and Grand Final show) - Eddie says show will be football equivalent of "shiny floor shows" (a term used to describe big live reality shows such as The Voice)
  • New midweek show with new talent to be announced "in due course" - Eddie says show will "have a new take on what football shows need to be in 2019"
  • Sam has signed new contract with Nine, will "float through" new show from time to time
  • Sunday Footy Show to be extended (2 hours?), Sam to be involved next year, most likely doing one-on-one interviews
  • Footy Classified to continue in existing format

I genuinely like Kane Cornes on radio. When people texted his spot on radio that he is a flog, he would read it out and laugh. I liked that. Is this ok to post here or should I move it to the unpopular opinion thread?

At least radio you cant see his ugly mug.
His lisp is still off-putting and his 'shock-jock' mentality is abrasive.

Long story short, yes I think unpopular opinion :D

I wasn't amused by how Eddie spun the demise of TFS on Thursday night "With 11 games on a Thursday in 2019, it's made it hard for TFS to continue"... try the dwindling ratings cob!

He also mentioned that next year, Nine has both the Ashes and the Cricket World Cup, which will both involve Australia playing on quite a few Thursday nights (AU time) during the season... although it'll all probably air on Gem rather than the main channel #spincity

A new move to shake up the old Footy Show format is reportedly in the works with former host Craig Hutchison tipped to lead the shake-up.

The Herald Sun reports Hutchison, who leads Melbourne-based company Crocmedia, is in ongoing talks with Channel Nine about a fresh concept to the panel-driven football broadcast. The network has reportedly agreed to Hutchison’s new format, which will include a number of the league’s most recognisable faces.

Hawthorn great Jarryd Roughead has reportedly been linked to the program, which is rumoured to be planned for a Monday night weekly broadcast.Richmond defender Alex Rance and Blues star Sam Docherty have reportedly also been targeted for the show.
The program’s future has been the talk of the football community after hitting the skids late last year.

Host Eddie McGuire made the announcement the show would be replaced in the off-season in December. The Collingwood boss he also confirmed long-time partner Sam Newman will return next year in a similarly-reduced capacity on the new version of the iconic program.
Channel 9 has made the bold move to usher in a new era with a new weekly football program team.
McGuire and Newman will only feature sporadically throughout the 2019 season.

The 54-year-old said there will be just four Footy Show specials next year. Channel 9’s new weekly AFL entertainment show will be something else entirely.
“We’re going to have a completely new format next year,” McGuire said on The Hot Breakfast.

“We’re going to have an expanded Footy Show format.

“It will be a completely new take on what footy shows need to be going forward.”

He told Nine’s Today he will only host a series of Footy Show “specials” throughout the year, but will leave weekly hosting duties to a new team.

He said the decision was made because of Nine’s busy 2019 sporting calendar, where the network will carry the 2019 Ashes series in England and the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England — all during prime time.

Revealed: Who will host new-look AFL Footy Show in 2019

The Footy Show is not dead yet, and its new line-up can finally be revealed.
The fabled show will return with Hawks tragic Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann as host in an effort to kick the iconic program into a new era.

Lehmann, a successful radio host and comedian, is expected to join footy great Brendan Fevola as the mainstays of the Channel 9 show, which will blend football, entertainment and comedy.

The pair is tipped to form a regular panel with tennis ace Dylan Alcott, a passionate footy fan, and an as-yet-unknown female sporting identity.

A fifth panel member is expected to rotate each week, with the focus on comedians or former footballers with a lighter side to fill the spot.

The focus of the show will be less about team lists and will have a funnier flavour than the original.

In a back-to-the-future twist, the program will hold onto the name The Footy Show despite a number of alternative names being tossed around in recent months.

Fevola gave a strong hint to the identity of his new castmates in an Instagram post last week.

He wrote on the photo of himself with Dave Thornton, Glenn Robbins, Lawrence Mooney and Lehmann: “5 comedians hanging out or the new @aflfootyshow panel?”

But the new-look Footy Show won’t have any time to rest on its laurels.

The first show is tipped to launch on Wednesday, March 20, putting it head-to-head with the return of Channel 7’s popular The Front Bar.
It’s believed original mainstays Eddie McGuire and Sam Newman will not be part of the new Footy Show, but the pair will host a series of footy specials throughout the year.

McGuire’s production company, JAM TV, will continue to be behind the Thursday night offering.
