If no Bucks , Cam Bruce and yes OTI assume this is correct (although I couldn't actually see it on any Sturt socials etc);
Sturt (SANFL) Football Club has granted Melbourne (AFL) request to approach current Head Coach Martin Mattner about the recent vacancy for its Head Coaching Position.
He had a spell at Adelaide as an assistant and was let go during the Covid cuts but other than that (and a half season at the Swans as a development coach after retiring mid year) he's only coached at Sturt; 69% win rate (110 wins/159 games) and a couple pf Premierships.
Recruiting a senior AFL coach from outside the 'system' just doesn't happen any more.
May not be the front runner, but I reckon clubs could be rewarded if they spread their nets a bit wider.
Would love to see him get a chance at AFL level - has done a lot right at Sturt. Would be pretty great to have both Matty Nicks and Marty Mattner in the AFL coaching scene. Two of my all time favourite Swans. The mental image (instant replay almost) of that chase and tackle in the 2012 grand final will forever stick in my mind - a wonderful moment of never say die (if half our current boys had that same level of commitment and desperation - perhaps we might have a couple more cups in the cupboard).I assume this is correct (although I couldn't actually see it on any Sturt socials etc);

Has Sturt on 16-0 this season, near 180%.
We should approach him.

So many thought Angus was going to be part of our midfield until he wasn't. Great work all three.Well done to Lachie McAndrew and ex Academy player Angus Anderson being named in the SANFL team of the Year.
