A little distraction for those that need it.
I love Gilly

If only we could bottle just a tiny portion of Gilly and share it around the joint, we humans would be happier folk.

From a round 8 loss in 2004, Swans 4th in a row

Won the next 6 of 7 according to Bolton in another tweet

That was outstanding from Roos.

Article on the Gold Coast Suns;

Rhyce Shaw gets a fair old pat on the back.

Rhyce Shaw’s impact on the club has been profound.

Speak to those in and around the Suns and Shaw’s performance as Head of Development since joining in 2021 could well stamp him as the best recruit Stuart Dew has made in his time at the helm, both on and off-field.

Dew worked with Shaw during the pair’s time at Sydney Swans and, once the latter departed North Melbourne as senior coach due to personal reasons near the close of 2020, Dew pushed hard to recruit his former colleague.

“If he’s not the best in it (player development), I don’t who would be,” Campbell says of Shaw.

“He (Dew) saw an opportunity to make the club better, but also to help out a person that had been so good to him and to footy given the circumstances. For him to move his family up to the Gold Coast and go into a position that he’s just eminently qualified for was great for everyone, great for our club, great for Rhyce, great for his family.

“Then you’ve got the wealth of experience he’s got as a player, a coach, development coach, a senior coach, to run our development program. He’s got a really good feel for the game, he’s got an even better feel for people. He just cares.

“It’s just story after story of players going to him for advice on hand balling, life or whatever it is. People would then go, ‘gee, if I go elsewhere do I have Rhyce Shaw with me?’ That’s being a bit dramatic on him but you probably can’t overstate the importance of him to our footy club.”

Didn't work out at NM, but I've never heard a bad word about him.
In fact the exact opposite, guys like Alex Johnson have given him great praise.

I've mentioned it before, but back in the U18 championships Shaw was a member of the victorious Vic Metro team.
Team went out to celebrate, Shaw volunteered to stay behind to keep an eye on a fellow team member suffering concussion.
Rhyce was there for that teammate, for Rohan coming back from his broken leg, for AJ and a bloody good development/reserves coach.

Would have loved him back at the Swans but great he is seemingly in a good place, in every sense. :thumbsu:

100%. One of the greats.
I wouldn't lose hope of him coming back some day. I reckon he went to Norf as backs coach to broaden his experience to one day have a shot as a head coach.
IMO he was unlucky it happened too early and at the wrong club. He was totally thrown under the bus.
Glad he has lobbed up where he is successful and appreciated.

Thanks Hairy!

Two of our best assistant coaches (Dew & Shaw) have turned it for the Suns, and shown them how a professional, well run club breeds success. Not only are we a breeding ground for players, we're also a breeding ground for coaches. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of our coaches being hunted by under performing clubs.

I would welcome either or both of them back!

What an absolute joy is Tony Armstrong! Everything he does puts a smile on my face.
A little ray of sunshine in a bloody dismal world.

Crows supporter told me that Dawson has been elevated to the Crows leadership group mid-season and is in-line to be their next captain
Hahahhaha Damn. And last trade period people were suggesting cerra was the prized recruit. The crows did a great job screwing us, guess it's pretty easy when Judas is in your corner reassuring fans they've got nothing to worry about.

Well I hope Dawson becomes the captain of a rabble for years to come.

Which is interesting. It shows he comes from a good culture, and I suppose the Crows would like some Swans culture. Dawson never struck me as having leadership qualities, and he was never mentioned in discussions regarding leadership at the Swans. Maybe they're trying to make Adelaide a poor man's Swans.

Really hope he can make it back for the rest of the year, poor bloke has had such a terrible run since that bulldogs prick slid into his knees in the 2016 GF, never been the same since then.
