Put bluntly and probably with an unpopular bent but a 100 games is a ridiculous stat for someone of Dempsters output.

Good role player. Nothing more, but he did his job for us and does his job for the Saints. I mark players a lot higher if they play well in big games and Dempster was very good in both GF's last year IMO. Did his bit in the '05 GF too.

I still think that we got rid of Schnides and Dempster due to Salary Cap troubles. Shoulda got rid of Moore and "insert defender here".

Good role player is a term that is now thrown around defense for just about anybody hanging on to their lists while struggling.
Dempster may bob up here and there with a few handy run with roles but there are times he fails top pull that off well either. In the 2005 grand final it was said he did ok for a youngster. Last years GF 1 remember him early but as for Grand Final 2 my memory was he might as well have been sitting on the couch next to me.
He never progressed passed that ok for a youngster level and is still performing to it today. It's testament to St Kilda's lack of depth that he made it this far.

I recall a nice run down the wing where he deftly sidestepped Ben Cousins. Nice piece of play that.
100 games and 5 GFs including a premiership. Maybe the Saints keep him on for his insane luck.

Was watching the Foxtel Cup, Schwass giving Roos a bit of stick for getting rid of Mieklejohn. That was before my time but I assume he was spudish?
