Don't be puzzled. Umpires are not going to care about Richmond for as a long as we are cellar dwellers. Why should they care if Richmond loses by six goals or eight?

Until last night I would have considered it. I wasn't sold on his midfield move since he doesn't get alot of the pill. But he was good last night with 20 Touches. Adds experience and toughness. Absolutely ridiculous call to suggest we drop him, who replaces him? Guarantee he won't provide what Newman does to this team.

I will speak on behalf of myself and the force that is @CGTCN.

I don't think Newy is a liability. I don't think you can put a price on what he does on and off the field. Last night on Selwood was just silly, that is fact. It may have even turned the game but I don't think it cost us the game as I felt we would have lost anyway.

If Newy wasn't to be selected, it's not to go and get form at Coburg. What I would like to know from everyone is who comes in and permanently plays the role he has / is playing? Wich Coburg player is crying out for that opportunity.

Everyone wanted Cotchin as captain and that's fair enough. But, he is extremely young and I believe wouldn't have taken it on if he didn't have a good leadership around him.

Some people think that he misses a 15 metre pass and doesn't get a heap of the ball means he's gone. That's not how you run a club or a business for that matter.

Anyway, serial complainers will always be complainers so this may as well be lorum ipsum to you.

Totally agree. Newman had the ball, and kicked it to Martin, was held onto after the contest, so it should have been a downfield free kick (Commentators picked this up), Newy pushed the Geelong bloke off him, and then Selwood comes charging in with his head (As usual), and instigates contact first. And the Geelong supporters claimed Cotchin is a protected species? Last night, Cotch was scragged, and held onto, taken high etc. at almost every contest, without getting a free, and Selwood instigates contact, and draws one. Not to mention having his knees perennially buckled at every contest he is in.

Maric isn't decent? He was arguably the best in 2012.

Form has been suspect, but the lamentable retaliation on Selwood who was simply trying to milk a free when Dusty was 2 m out lining up for goal was truly an embarrassment that no leader- let alone a former captain should be sucked into.
From this point on it spiraled out of on troll- led down this void by very poor leadership

Dumbass free by Newy and 50 m
Sucked in balls and all - our leaders were the biggest culprits...how can the younger players rise above this?

I wouldn't be dropping Newy yet, see how his next fortnight pans out,,,then act

I hope the critics have noticed his last couple of games and just how good he's been. How good we're his skills and marking last night? He barely made a mistake.

Take notice, Newy deserves better both as the host of a Roar Vision show and on field. We know he's a champ off field.

Some people still didn't have him in the votes because they had their favourite players in there instead.

Still as I have said previous, Newman isn't alone with his inconsistencies this year. It's a team thing for me, there are a couple of players progressing well, but there are quite a few that aren't quite what they were from last year.

Maric, Lids, Cotch, Grigg, Batch, Nahas, Vickery, Martin and of course Newman are all having average years. Last year they were performing team inspiring acts regularly, this year for instance, Nahas looks like a selfish little kid, Cotch doesn't even look like captain material (1 goal for 2013 iirc and a few errant handballs and kicks), Grigg looks below par, Batch has been nothing great, Lids cant make his mind up if he want to be a superstar or not and Martin and Newy are probably the best performing out of those lot and they aren't exactly setting the world alight either.

Maybe they need to go make a camp fire and tell each other some home truths and start playing for each other and not themselves.

Newman saved goals for us, on several occasions last night. The backline is where he plays his best footy but throwing him forward last night, wouldn't of been a bad idea. Would of done more than Nahas.

I was questioning Newy's longer term future earlier this year but I just watched this on RFC website:

Gotta say he seems like an absolute champion bloke and clubman & I admit I went early in questioning his role.
Speaks so well... classy step-down to give Cotch the leadership after last year and is playing very good football this season.
His own leadership is still so evident and no doubt in my mind, even though Cotch is the Captain, I reckon he still looks up to Newy as the elder statesman of the playing group.

I reckon newy can play the role we hoped of knights, has a good leg , great mark and pretty creative. H e s a bloody mile from being out of the side btw, a vital cog is newy
