Are the biggest bunch of two-bit, arrogant w***ers on God's good Earth. Having just spent six days in France (4 in Paris), I spit on all French people and their overhyped, stinking capital. The food was shit and the people are are nothing more than a collective of rude mongrels.

London is a brilliant place and Londoners are terriffic people as are the Spanish and Barcelona. As for Paris however, take away the Eiffel Tower and a couple of other major tourist attractions (Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, etc) and the place is nothing more than a cesspit of general scum and inbred oxygen thieves. I wouldn't piss on the entire population of Paris if the place was on fire.

Discuss.

Enjoyed 5 weeks in UK mainly in Gloucester, Bristol and Liverpool and the hospitality was excellent.

Have not been to Paris and do not intend to go there (especially after your report).

So Crypt, I take it you'll be ordering the 'Freedom Fries' from Maccas and not the 'French Fries' :D

ps: maybe they thought you where a rugby supporter?

I bet that you liked the food. Most French people are rude.
I bet that you hated eating boogas with their stackhats on as well. Snails are their favourite dish.

I have to agree! I spent a month in France a few years ago, 2 and a half weeks in the country near the border with Germany, and one and a half weeks in Paris.

The people from the country were so accomodating and some of the nicest people ive ever met, however the people in Paris are at the other end of the spectrum and probably some of the rudest people I've met! I found that if you spoke French to them they were slightly more pleasant but overall if they could tell you weren't from France they wouldn't really give you the time of day!

I was also slightly freaked out by the amount of pick pocketers around. We had a bunch of them follow us around the eiffel tower and because of it we had to take the stairs most of the way down to get away!

I bloody agree! I was in Paris in April, and 98% of the people were tossers. The gypsies there are the worst as well, they're such a pain in the arse.

I think Paris is a dirty hole. All I saw were homeless people, gypsies, and military people walking around with rifles. With that said, the Eiffle Tower was good.

London is awesome. Such a busy city, yet most people were willing to help you with directions. Not in Paris...... Even when I tried to speak French the bastards just looked at me and walked away (even at the airport when checking in!!!). w***ers.

My uncles French....

Technically he's italian, but his family moved to france at 3, then to australia at 14.

He only came her on a holiday, but decided to move here for that exact reason, he found it was wonderful that people bothered getting to know eachother and were soo friendly

Bon jour Monsieur Cryptkeeper.;)

I found Paris pretty hard going especially on my budget.

Provincial frogs were ok though.

Bonjour à tous!

I thought I would intriduce myself in my first post and then I saw this thread "The French...". :)
I am French and I am actually sorry to hear that we have such a bad reputation. Every country and their people have their own clichés. The French are arrogant, the Americans are illitterate, the Swedes are cold, The Dutch are potheads, the Italians are noisy and so on.
These are just clichés and it is really hard to undersyand people from a certain country in one month during a holiday.
I was to Australia many many times. I don't dare to say that I know the Australians. All I can say is that I met many nice, friendly and helpful people and that I met some other people who were, well, not that nice. Just like anywhere else in the world.
It's just my hunble opinion of course.

Sorry to hear you had such a shit time Crypty, in fairness, you are a pretty intimidating presence and they were probably just trying to surrender. :)

I had a week in Paris some time ago and absolutely loved it, even moreso than London.

I will get back there one day, although my focus next time will be to explore the rest of the country.

Welcome aboard MIF like most places you go you'll find good & bad people where ever ya go I've always had a thing for french women ye ha.;)

Lol..

I liked France, they were nice.

London, I thought had an ego, but we were there for like 4 days..

:eek: Mojo, I agree with you!!:eek: Just spent about 10 days in Paris and loved it. Maybe it was where we stayed?? Didn't mind the food except that they wanted to serve french fries with every meal. It is expensive but where isn't with the Australian peso?

Wow, big shock agreeing with Mojo..

Hmm.. I can't remember where we stayed, the west side.. or something. Not that far from the Louvre.

I still can't believe they make us pay for water! My dad paid like $150 each meal..

Venice was awesome though.. but Italian pizza (you would think would rock) sucks!

Sorry Mojo. I thought it was part of your street cred to be a lone wolf:D. We rented an apartment in the 6th Arrondisement on the Left Bank and had a great time. I am really sad to hear that Cryptkeeper didn't have the same sort of experience as your family and mine did.

Appreciate the sentiment mate but fear not, my time in London and Barcelona as well as the north of France more than made up for the ordinary experience of Paris.

Good to hear that. I got to a bit of Northern France too on one of those WW1 Battlefield Tours. Well worthwhile but the history was very tragic.
