Broady might have had a few tests for aus but he’d have been dropped after a handful because he didn’t take enough wickets.

Broad was a great guest, loved the story about him whistling the 'Broady's a w***er' chant while making a cup of tea and his teammates wondering what he was up to. He enjoyed his time on the show, and believes there's scope for a similar program in England.
Phil Tuffnel would have been a good guest instead of Steve Waugh, but I can understand channel 7 being reluctant to have 2 ex England players as guests for their only cricket episodes of the Front Bar.

I can certainly believe this, it's pretty much what I expected.
Stuart Broad. Going back to the 2013-14 Ashes series, people were booing him for not walking in a previous series, but that doesn't bother me. I believe batsmen bat, bowlers bowl and umpires are there to make umpiring decisions. So, I don't care if a batsman waits for an umpire give him out.
But back to the 2013-14 series, I loved the way Broad just kept roaring in to bowl, no matter what the situation, and he was ultra-competitive in a 0-5 series, which I admire. What really won me over was an interview he did in the Test after Johnson clobbered him on the foot and left a massive bruise. Johnson had just got Broad again in the same fashion, Broad joked that Johnson was aiming for the same spot. It was refreshing, no bullshit, just have a joke and move on.
He reminded me of Darren Gough, always competitive and played the game in the right spirit.

It definitely used to be out, Adam gilchrist famously walked if he thought he was out. Now with ball tracking technology being used a batsman might start walking off, the screen says not out and he comes back to resume his innings.

totally agree on broads 2013-14 series . i seen a couple test live and he gave his all every spell as the poms crumbled around him .

What you saw on the episode is what you get with Broad . Genuinely decent fella .

S.Waugh has done a lot for charity etc but a very ordinary guy .
Anderson is moody and quite aloof off field . Just eats junk so have no idea how he stayed in shape.

If you choose to walk, then your out. Doesn't matter if the Ump hasn't made a decision.
Ball tracking etc is only used when there is a review. Sabso is correct - if your walking off and the review is found to be not out, then the batsman resumes his innings.

Broad is a fantastic speaker, no surprise how he held court on this show.
It would normally be given out. Having said that though, there was an incident involving Graeme Watson back in the 1970s. He was playing for Western Australia and was on about 150 at the time. He considered he nicked one and walked off the ground. However, the umpires at the time considered he wasn't out, and at the next break went to the official scorers and changed the dismissal from "caught" to "retired out".
Spot on. I've got no issue if a batsman hits the thickest of outside edges and stands his ground. It's not his job to make decisions, that's what an umpire is for. If he decides to walk and save the umpire the trouble (as guys like Botham did in the past), that's fine too. Obviously the same for picking the ball up. There's a keeper, bowler, and 9 other fieldsman. They can do it.
However, where the red mist descends for me is when players who would never walk themselves start getting miffed when the opposition don't do it. Unfortunately, a lot of players past and present fall into this category.
This reminds me of a boring story.
I was playing seniors thirds one day when I was about 15. It was at the level where there was no supplied umpires so, as you'd probably know, the batting team does the umpiring.
Our captain was umpiring. His eyesight wasn't the best. A batsman got a very dull-sounding leading edge in front of his pad. The bowler appealed and the guy was given out LBW by our captain. The batsman was obviously dumbfounded, partly because the ball had gone not-too-slowly to cover (on the bounce) off his bat.
They started arguing. The batsman was saying: "It hit it!! How could the ball go so far off my pads??!!" The guy got the shits, left, and never came back.
