The furphy that Melbourne has poor crowds

Today against Gold Coast at the MCG there was an attendance 24,506 at the MCG, a 1:20 start, not really a great time for families with Saturday sport, Melbourne, not one of the large Victorian clubs, admittedly playing very poorly atm.

Thursday night, Essendon (a large Victorian club) v Port Adelaide at Marvel, 25,114 attended.

Melbourne continue to get crap about crowds but none say a word about Essendon.

Melbourne are a unique club, not born or based in a suburban area, we are the MCG.

Considering our terrible form the attendance today would suggest that 'Melbourne supporters don't turn up' is absurd.

Tbh the dees poor crowds wouldnt even get mentioned if they werent playing all their home games at the MCG, to a stadium thats 1/4 full a half a dozen times a year

And in exactly the same timeslot in the same ground the week before Essendon got 46,000+. Thursday night is the worst timeslot to attend football. Meanwhile Melbourne get a pitiful 24,000. Still don't know why they are allowed to play any games at the MCG, should be forced to play all 11 at Marvel and let all the other Marvel clubs take their MCG games since people actually show up for them.
