Height wise Graham is as tall as or taller than Sam Mitchell, Nathan Jones, David Armitage, Tom Mitchell, Tom Liberatore and a host of others...if he isn't good enough to play more of an inside role it isn't because of his height.

I kind of see it being his only opportunity. To play anywhere else you need to offer run that he simply doesn't have. Which slow and steady mids get by in the game without having a strong inside game?

None -which is why the question was raised regarding his ability to play as an extractor. Everyone of the blokes you mentioned above are physically stronger and run faster than Nick- apart from Mitchell who isn't a speedster. The only way to find out if Graham is good enough to learn the art of extraction at AFL level - is to play him there.

I like iut that you have G-Mac there. I think he is a likely type.

He puts on some weight and gets 20-30 games experience in the VFL over the next 2 years and I reckon he will be standing up there next to Weitering, dominating the majority of the "gorilla" forwards out there. With Jammo as the third tall defender to support those two, unless Plowman really comes on in the next 2 seasons and then it will be Plow out there standing the forwards with them.

I think Graham definitely needs to be in at the coal face with Cripps. I thought we were going to have him, Cripps and Curnow in the thick of it, with Gibbs, Murphy, Boek outside. With Wright, Kerridge, Thomas, Docherty taking spells from the flanks.

I've not seen hardly anything of McKay so can't say yet[/QUOTE]
All fair points - but he doesn't look like he is being groomed for a heavy lifting inside on ball role....and that is exactly what we need- 2 more of these to play alongside Cripps.

I agree. We need some midfielders with real stuffing. Sure you need outside run (which we seem to have addressed - hopefully) but to compete with a sydney midfield , you need real tough nuts who are skillful

To think that people are criticising Graham two games into the season after facing a team vying for premiership contention, just comes to show that there is no pleasing anybody. He was made to look ordinary during that match. But his work off the ball is second to none.

How is dale thomas looking this year?
Will need to work into it given he hasn't played injury free for a long time.

Work rate looks okay, skills a bit rusty. Will be better for the run on the weekend.

Don't know that there is criticism...we all want him to do well. But fair to comment there were pretty high hoped after a great NAB campaign and he has looked a bit overwhelmed to this point in the season.

Probably true. Without a doubt, each player is wanting to go one better after a satisfactory performance. Some might not be able to demonstrate it as well as others on the field. Graham is certainly one of those players whose work ethic is always there. The pressure just got to him on Sunday. Sydney were just far too good. I'm sure Graham can make amends in the next game.

Plow is in regardless , he's all class

Nope.

The Riewoldt comparisons are about as flattering as it gets in AFL circles.

Like seeing shades of Carey in Levi.
Yeah I don't think we should be going for any more unproven recyclables. This year we had to plug some holes short term but from now on we should focus on moving up the draft order (however possible) and giving prudent exposure to the kids.

What I would really love to see is the yank really come on as a ruckman and free up Kreuzer to play the role that I have always said he is better suited for... that of a ruck rover.

You can surround the combination of Korchek, Kreuzer and Murphy (or Cripps) with some serious speedsters to get the ball away from the centre and let them loose on the opposition. With Kreuzer and Cripps walking through walls of opposition players to get the ball out after Korchek taps it, there wouldnt be a midfield in the league that could stop us from extracting the ball at the contest.

Plowman will come on.

Jamo hasn't got more than 30 games left in him but you can see the beginnings of a excellent back 6.

Touhy, JGM, Plowman
Byrne Weitering docherty

At least 4 good leaders, 1 holding defender and at least 5 good users with rebound.

I personally would pick Buckley over Byrne but it could end up being DVR or Sumner

I would move Doc into the midfield and put DylBucks back there to take on the likes of Rioli and co. He has the speed and agility to go with them.
