I know right!!!

Ben is still sooking over not getting picked in the last WC, now he is too busy for the Rio games.

Aussie pride.
So he's that upset at not getting picked... But really he just doesnt care about the Boomers or consider himself an aussie?

Get your story straight buddy - and realise people are sick and tired of a poster with a chip on his shoulder who just keeps repeating the same claim with nothing to actually back it up.
Suggestion - if you want people to take you seriously, then start posting some more mature comments, or move onto discussing a different topic altogethor.

Yawn - 17 and not having a million dollar contract is very different to playing in the NBA.

I'm confident he won't play for Australia. I don't need to discuss this with you anymore.

Come at me if he does.
You can't have a hunch and then just talk about it as though it's going to be correct. Your gut feel means nothing, and apart from that there is not one single shred of evidence to sugggest what you're saying will come to fruition.

That's ok.

I'm done commenting on this topic but I won't be the one disappointed when they don't play.

Besides a handful of prospects like Ben, Buddy, Ingram there is not a lot of talent in upcoming Draft.
This will work in Thon Maker's favour.
I see a team taking a punt on him.
Would have liked to see him play a year in College. Don't think he is ready.

Someone with multiple first round picks. Hello Boston. Will pick him up as a low risk, high reward player.

A 7 footer who can potentially protect the ring, quick enough to switch onto wings at a stretch, and stretch the floor all the way out to the 3 pointer line, is gold in todays NBA.

Thon isn't ready, good move by him to enter a weaker draft but he would've been better served going to college... He looked shocking in the Nike summits game last year, not touch or feel around the rim.and couldn't catch a ball lol.

Don't see the benefit of him going to college. He needs more bulk as much as anything, he's more chance to get that in the NBA in a professional program. If he goes to a team that won't rush him he'll develop much quicker than going to college and their restricted training hours. Also with his skillset playing 30 games against teams that pack the paint with guards that won't pass to him would do nothing for him.

Yep i think he just has a massive range of what he could be. How he goes in the combines and tryouts, compared to others, will go a big way to determining how high someone is willing to take the risk.

I agree he's not ready - and thats how most clubs will view him. Historically i have alwayd thought players should go to college first, but i dont really think it would be the best thing for Thon - really wouldn't suit his game, and probably not the best way to develop him to be NBA ready. What it would do though is make teams a bit more confident about his value im the draft.

I think whats more likely to happen is that whatever team drafts him plans to stash him with their D-League affiliate for a year (or 2). Building his body, getting used to playing against men and having access to NBA coaching and development should be great for him.
(personally i would love him to drop to the Spurs to do exactly that - but doubt he'll be available)

Yeah, I don't really see why people always throw out this 'he isn't ready' line. Wouldn't a year in an NBA system make him more NBA-ready than a year in the college system?

If one gm is impressed/excited by his workout then i can see him shoot up the board based on his potential... i think he will go.late 1st/early 2nd rd. Although, draft night does funny things to people...

But but u said andrew bogut...blah blah blah.

Have a read of this article...andrew bogut believes ben simmons is going to represent aus in the future and his decision to concentrate on the draft is a smart move.

Ill take andrew boguts word and so will you since you've previously relied on his statement.

Don't start giving opinions in a manner like its fact when you have no knowledge about the topic.

Btw you won't be commenting on your stance because you have been made aware how stupid it is.

Happy reading :)

Can see Thon sliding to late 2nd Rd especially if his combine isn't good. Going to playing a couple of year in the D-League (maybe NBL?) regardless.
It's always a chance, but I'm tipping he goes somewhere mid-late first round.

I reckon teams will have pretty low expectations for him in the combines. They are not gonna be looking for the guy to be able to compete with the guys with college experience... he is coming straight from high school in Canada.

What they are going to be looking for is a strong work ethic and effort- and that he physically looks similar to advertised. He has all the physical attributes that NBA GM's will be drooling over. (except for the bulk - but look at guys like KD and Kristaps, and he doesn't need to put much on, just enough to be a bit stronger).
If he looks good from that side of things - I wouldn't be surpised if he goes in the lottery... he definitely will not be the first untested guy to be taking high based purely on potential.

If they are worried about the effort side of it... then yes, he may well drop to 2nd round, or go undrafted - but that would very much surprise me.

The Spurs drafted a project like Mahinmi when he wasn't even in the draft guide. I doubt they pass on Thon if he's available in the late 20s.

I think his basement will be around 20-25. And that's if he doesn't show up in workouts. He may not be a dynamite athlete, his hands may be small and he's still quite raw but 7-1 prospects with elite reach and let's face it, pretty nice coordination don't grow on trees. Far less talented centers have been drafted higher.
