Pretty cynical article given it is now reported that he is meeting with the 76ers recommended mental health specialist.
he is only doing that because they started fining him again...

Philly have only got themselves to blame for Simmons sitting out after they threw him under the bus after losing their series against The Nets last season.

I
yeah that series we lost against the Nets last season was unbelievable, i still don't quite believe it happened

Well believe it, because it definitely did!

Hard to believe Kawhi Leonard’s performance in that one, absolutely out of this world.

Maybe, or maybe he is actually unwell and distrusts his current employer.
As far as I am aware, and i may obviously be uninformed, but they Sixers aren't demanding minute by minute updates. They simply wanted him to talk to the people that organised as well so they knew how he was tracking, they haven't put pressure on him to return and are trying to help.
And considering they hired him his own shooting coach to work with, who he decided not to use and then he hired his own brother, I would suggest the Sixers also are well within their rights to try and get some sort of answers or updates and try get someone they can actually speak to as well.

The whole situation is a mess though

That is true - the fact that this is all playing out via the media through innuendos and otherwise doesn't help any party.

To be honest, they should just trade him and get on with it. Clearly from what you see of Embiid, he is the number one player and he needs a supporting star (or duo of secondary stars) to get the chip.

I am sure they would love to, but if he wants out bad enough he needs to do his part.

Philly aren't going to lose him for nothing, if he wants out start cooperating and try to help increase his value.

Disagree - his value is well known, the issue is Morey wants overs.

His value as an all defensive player/all star is higher when he is playing and not sitting out the season

Come back and play at a high level, tell them you still want out but show other teams you are worth trading for.

I am yet to see a good offer that makes sense for Philly

It’s all rumour of course - but I thought the La Vert, Brogdan and picks made complete sense.

Bloke wants to get paid for doing nothing. Ill bet he doesnt play 1 more game for the 76ers, but as soon as hes traded will immediately be mentally ready. What an embarrassment.

Right... Ben is a sook, an atypical Australian.

HOWEVER...

Lets not pretend like you'd go back to work for a place that essentially publicly said their last big project failed because of you alone, in a team of 50+ people (players, coaches, support staff). Then they wont trade/release you, because they value you so highly that they'd publicly blame you for all their issues.

I'd be doing the same thing Ben is, taking the absolute piss, taking their salary and providing nothing.

You'd be surprised how many people would do exactly what he's doing.

This Ben dick riding is getting kinda weird...

The fact that so many people are on Phillys side in this is pathetic.
best player and coach called him out publicly. So he said ok trade me, to which they went...well only if we get the entire solar system in return.

If you value him so highly, why publicly shame him for being s**t.
If you dont rate him highly, why not trade him.

Its simple. They wanted a scapegoat, and expected him to return and be professional, after they showed complete lack of professionalism. You reap what you sow!

Neither comment was particularly harsh…

The guy straight refused to participate on offence in the 4th quarter for almost that entire series.

The fact that he has refused to work on a clear weakness for YEARS and after all those years of Embiid defending him Ben still refused to work on himself yeah the comments were fair.

That one comment does not warrant demanding out and refusing to play at all until you get a trade. You are making it sound like Doc and Embiid said Ben is trash, it didn’t happen.

Yeah except this didn’t happen

Also in this analogy you need to remember that the big project that had failed was the 5th time it had failed and every time you were a major part of the reason it failed.

Also it isn’t a normal workplace, it’s a professional sports team. You wouldn’t find an athlete that heard a hell of a lot worse than what Ben copped.

And despite all this the org, coach and players still made an attempt to apologise and mend the bridge… which he had no interest in again.

What you mean it didnt happen.

Embiid and Rivers both on video essentially blaming him for it.
This is not a 'conspiracy' they f***king said it.

You say neither comment was harsh. Embiid would literally cry and leave the USA if someone did that to him.

In fact, professional organisations dont hang their own people out to dry, I guess we all know the 76ers are a long long way from professional though.

Doc got asked if he thought Ben could be the PG on a championship team, he wasn’t blaming him for this loss.

Embiid can cop it, he may bite back but he would cop it.

Just like after the Toronto series, he came back better next year knowing he wasn’t good enough.

Ben on the other hand wants to be a max player but not play on the offensive end. Sorry but his 4th quarter stays in that series are nothing short of embarrassing

Embiid - I’ll be honest. I thought the turning point was when we – I don’t know how to say it. But I thought the turning point was just, we had an open shot and we made one free throw and we missed the other and then they came down and scored and we didn’t get a good possession on the other end and Trae came back and he made a 3 and then, from there down four. And then I got – it’s on me. I turned the ball over, tried to make something happen from the perimeter. But I thought that was the turning point.

I guess Matisse should also ask for a trade since he called him out for missing the free throw. Maybe Embiid just has it in for Australians...

Also Embiid in another presser - I think you just got to have some self-awareness. I could have done much better than I did. I turned the ball over a few times, I missed a few shots, Tobias (Harris) could have been better. All my teammates could have been better.

Embiid calls out Tobias Harris, looks like Tobias should also demand a trade...

Ben Simmons - I love being in Philly, I love this organisation...He also says the first thing I'm going to do is clear my mind and get my mental right.

So he hints at some issues, I wonder if it was being worked on with/without the knowledge of the 76ers.

Wow this post is a mess

Lebron failed to make play offs when he missed 30 games with injury

Lebron getting 'smashed by Ayton' still put up 23/8/7

Curry and Lebron have never had a play off series as bad as his against the Hawks, stop defending it if you are going to compare him to those types of players.

What percentage of lebron's point were when Ayton was off the court / junk time?

Lebron's record when he was playing was poor
