For so long capatalist science has directed technology to wage war and control resources. This has sent us down a path that they say that very technology causing the problems can only fix them.

You don't cure gun shot wounds by shooting people.
So why does the capitalist world have the least war deaths per person out of any civilisation in recorded history?

I do not know what you're getting at asking that question. But if what it appears you are you're trolling or completely a fool.

Really i have to spell it out for you? If capitalism is about finding new ways to kill people then how come it leads to far less violence both between and within countries than other systems? Something seems amiss here. Unless ofcourse your initial assumption is rubbish.

Look at photos of people on trains and at train stations from fifty years ago. They are all reading newspapers. People at lunch often used to go and read a newspaper on their own as well. Its a myth that people just used to talk all the time and were super social. Perhaps the greatest social part of the work life was the smokie break and its probably very good that its now gone.

Ive never been on a date where people spend large chunks of time on the phone. The only time the phone comes out when the other is at the bathroom or we are looking up information to tell the other person. I.e. phones can help the conversation. Not to mention that dating apps also increase the amount of dates that people go on. People often used to go long periods between dates after they broke up with someone but that doesnt happen anymore for people who embrace dating apps.

That study doesnt consider that people use technology to socialise with people while at home. It is a form of socialisation just as valid as talking in a restaurant. Speaking of restaurants, younger people also spend a hell of a lot more time going to cafes and restaurants then in the past. Older generations now mock them for this. I wonder why that wasnt captured in the study. And how does working more increase socialisation? Working more means less time for leisure and catching up with friends. It seems like a biased study with an agenda. Typical of the older generation these days. A significant portion of younger people now also go on gap years and overseas holidays after year 12 which is all about socialisation. Long Overseas holidays wasnt really a thing until technology made it possible to organise yourself. It was basically impossible.
My guess is this would be more representative of 50 years ago. But I wouldn't know I wasn't around.

All I know is the difference between now and 20 years ago in regards to social interaction is massive from what I observe. In my teens, never would have seen friends or family members on PT ignoring each other as often as current day. Undoubtedly people were more sociable 20-30 years ago face to face. There was no screen to hide behind.
Maybe your dates are different, but observe others. They're constantly distracted from "the moment" by the regular alerts of their tech. The fact that people need the phone to "help conversation" just shows that social skills are slipping.
Like I said, the research is in its infancy. Thus is just one study, but there's plenty of others out there if you're interested in learning more.
I'd say cheaper travel has done more for international travel than tech has. That and changes in societal attitude. People never used to feel the need for a gap year, maybe high school is more stressful these days. Or maybe people are more stressed and disconnected because of their tech and they need a distraction such as a gap year to fix the malaise.

More meaningful then meeting work colleagues or most friends at a pub who only want to talk about boring sh**. I have to get pissed most of the time cos 90 percent of the conversation is boring as bat****. Forums give us the chance to talk about things that interest us.
Geez, that's genuinely sad that you have more meaningful connections here than in you're real life. It's an indictment on how disconnected we are becoming as a society. :(

Your family and friends should care more about you than random strangers on the internet.

It seems the more possessions and the more available (online) we are to other human beings large portions of the population are becoming lonelier and more disconnected, the middle class is feeling left behind, technology is driving apart real flesh and blood relationships. The vast majority of people on social media appear to have fairy tale lives and that is what a lot of people are comparing their lives to, the celebrity culture is also divisive and depressing for those aspiring to unrealistic levels of seemingly perpetual happiness and abundance.

IMO contentment in life comes from connection to family, friends, animals and the environment/nature.

Add Music and Sports and we are on the same page.

The disconnected society we appear to be becoming IMO is connected to the increase in mental health issues, including Children.

I appreciate the question. It's a good one.

We can't properly judge either as a result of capatalists sending us into debt and envioremental disaster to convince us capatalism is better. We have war graves all over Europe and Asia as a result. Kennedy taught us what the military industrial complex was doing to the world. If you do your research you will see that America created Al queda to attack Russia. You'll see America funded Islamic armies in Burma and china and ran drugs to fund this.

You'll see they also ran drugs for escobar to fund terrorism in central and South america. To attack socialists

Supported Partied in South Africa afraid Mandela would embrace communism.

I don't know how well those systems would work if not for us. I knows ours has phuqed everything. While a select few have hoarded trillions. And we suffer poverty, me and you and everyone around us

There's money in the perceived increase in mental health issues. Pharmaceuticals is the third biggest industry behind arms and energy.

They outlawed cannibis as a medicine because there is no money in it. All three of those industry's control the capatalist media.

Ptsd post natal depression have always been in huge numbers. My father suffered Ptsd from his national service where his unit comitted war crimes to protect the one percent and their profits while denying a resource rich country, democracy.

Many peoples mental health issues today are a result of s**t food culture and over worked coupled with Alcohol consumption (depressant) .

Suicide rates have risen as a result of the use of pych drugs.

Mental health issues in children are higher due to breakdown of the family unit and nutrition. This started in the 80s when cartoons were designed to get kids to nag their mother to buy s**t. This is also when fast food full of neuro toxins started taking off.

Pharmaceuticals spend more money on marketing than research. More money in bribes and lawsuits than research.

Yes I agree re: pharmaceutical industry. Was speaking with a friend from Venezuela who worked in natural medicine and mentioned there are regional communities that used pure cocaine and cannabis to cure some mental conditions and even cancers but converting it into oils and pastes. But I doubt our industry will consider it due to finiancial implications as mentioned.

Yes I stopped all sugar and processed food last year and feel better for it. The word is spreading.

Um that photo is clearly not one of the daily commute to work. No one has brief case and they are all dressed up. There are just as many women as men. Clearly a social outing. The men and wives are talking together but the only spot where there is a couple of men sitting together and they are all blankface staring at no one.

You are focusing only on one side of technology. Do you know how difficult it was to organise meet up with a group of friends before emails and texts were around? Everything had to be greatly coordinated at school or uni other wise it didnt happen. Now we often have multiple meet ups on weekends because we can just send a group text or email and organise a catch up for an hour later.

Cheaper travel was important and it has been enabled by technology. But dont understate the ease to organise holidays now compared to the past. It was only a few decades ago that if you wanted to book a hotel overseas without using a travel agent you had to either make a very expensive overseas call or book by letter. However the hardest part was just finding the name of hotels to begin with. Young people went on contiki tours which for most people are utter sh***. Having no freedom to choose your holiday and spending an awful amount of time on a bus and you paid extra for the privlege to do so. As a result not many people went on them and when they did it was often comsidered a once in a lifetime trip. Now pretty much every goes on overseas holidays and lots of them.

Maybe this is something you should think about rectifying

The problem with pyshco active substances as medications in our society is all the chemicals and toxins we have in our system. They cause neurological damage as well as thyroid and kidney issues. This makes side effects more pronounced and more dangerous.
to use these treatments first nutrition must be taught. The chinese worked out nutrition as medicine thousands of years ago.

Today doctors in Australia are deregistered for teaching nutrition.

I have spoken with recently graduated diploma of nutrition and they are only taught what those profiting from societys problems want them to be taught. Money controls the message of science.

Many decades ago when science showed that heart disease was caused from sugar intake, the biliion dollar sugar industry funded fake studies to blame cholestrol. To protect their profits.

The tobacco industry did a similar thing.

Evidently the carbon footprint of the transport and tourism industry is huge.

In one job I was talking to a guy from Africa. He was a child soldier. I asked why. He said he was trying to do good and protect his family.

What he was protecting from was us. Our society requires the minerals for our technology that come from his country. We make war to get those minerals.
