Under Gillard. Plibersek will take the ALP further left if given the chance!
If you look at Marxism, and it's theory, the ideology of the left or Socialist, if you will, you could put forward an argument that as the highest taxing, high spending PM in Australia's history, John Howard was also the biggest leftist. :D

What you and your ilk fail to recognise or you are being deliberately misleading about the fact that lower taxes followed by a booming economy will actually increase the tax take. I am sure you knew that though!

When did the Labor party become 'left wing'?

They've been pretty darn centrist since Hawke.
Socialism is not left wing?

From the ALP constitution

The Australian Labor Party is a democratic socialist party and has the objective of the democratic socialisation of industry, production, distribution and exchange, to the extent necessary to eliminate exploitation and other anti-social features in these fields.

In fairness your a lousy judge Mal. You think completely open borders is centrist..:)

The truth is Australia lurched to left under Rudd/Gillard and Abbott has done little to reign it back.

Please Lester lets not set this up again - that text did not even have any reality when Maurice Blackburn drafted it! Lenin himself claimed there was nothing socialist about the Labor Party. You have been peddling this nonsense for years and it was dealt with comprehensively in this thread: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/is-the-alp-a-socialist-party.1039238/

Having Ray conduct this "independent" review is like the AFL ruling on a Sydney player at the tribunal.
Nope -its nothing like it actually. Unless of course you can produce some concrete demonstrations of his vested interest in the ALP. Your response strikes me as a little hysterical.

What is this, amateur hour? He's the most Right wing PM in living memory. And that includes Howard.

Meh, on Social issues like gay marriage Gillard and Rudd weren't any different. Rudd only changed his tune because he thought it was a vote winner. He had been against it his whole life otherwise.

Carbon tax, Mining tax
How is tax 'left wing'?

Left-wing politics are political positions or activities that accept or support social equality, often in opposition to social hierarchy and social inequality.[1][2][3][4] They typically involve concern for those in society who are perceived as disadvantaged relative to others and a belief that there are unjustified inequalities that need to be reduced or abolished

She sided with the Greens, or the Greens sided with her?

OWG is neither a left wing nor is it a right wing position. Its what that OWG does when in power that establishes its position on the political left/ right spectrum.

Stop claiming otherwise.

The truth is Australia lurched to left under Rudd/Gillard and Abbott has done little to reign it back.
You and I both know you don't actually believe this, and are saying it only to troll.

Chiefs been in a bad mood lately banning everyone. He's not as forgiving as I am.

Lurched to the left?

Maybe moved slightly after Howard, but thats to be expected.

No one here is far left or right (whatever that means) But Clearly Abort is hard Right conservative in an old fashion sense. Monarchist, antiwelfare, pro big business, pro deductions for the rich, pro big military spending, anti union/worker, Xenophobic ( left often are too to be honest), but worst of all is that they are under the thumb of Rome.

I'd hoped all that had gone by the 1970's, but no.

Tax the insanely wealthy for the benefit of the poor? Mining tax perhaps, but the carbon tax was implemented for environmental reasons.

Proof please.
You and I both know that the carbon tax was not implemented for environmental reasons. It was to redistribute funds from the middle class to the poor and to try and shore up the budget.

Also, no proof is required. The Federal budget spending pie chart is proof enough. Google it and take a look at welfare spending. That is all the proof needed.
