Absolutely. But we need a top class ruckman. Charman or Hale. I think we could get either of them. Doc will retire and a replacement is needed. Keep Rixy on the list for 1 more year.

I think mainly footballers are at their prime at age 27. Look at our list and if you hold that view, the future is encouraging.

Gram, X Clarke, Watts, L Fisher, Montagna, Riewoldt, Ball, R Clarke, Goddard, Gilbert, Armitage, Ferguson, Birss, Koschitzke, Brooks, S Fisher, Dal Santo, Howard, Maguire, McQualter, Gwilt, Raymond, Allen, C Jones & Attard are all (I believe) 25 or under. That is 25 players I just named, with Fiora, Hayes, Milne, Baker, Rix & Blake not that much older.

While I think this off-season will see some of those 25 delisted, they will be replaced with hungry 18 year olds. And hopefully Jamie Charman.

y do we want jamie charman so much
he gets injured to often
why not try and get a young kid in the draft like what brisbane have done with there 5 ruckman they have like leingerger
till then play kosi and rix
matt clarke is hopeless tell him to get away we dont need him
he was hopeless and for a apparent first class ruckman he isnt any good
blake could have dun better in the ruck than him against cox
rix would have done better running at cox instead of trying to take him on COX is simply the best ruckman in the league
u know we could have got him!!!

I just feel he is useful when we win, but does nothing when it gets tough. I am only too happy to be proven wrong, as when he came I was excited by the potential.

If only Fiora, each time he grabbed the footy on the wing, took 2 bounces and nailed it from outside 50. This should be just about his only job, he can't go down to the backline, he's got short arms. and he doesn't stack up against the calibre of forwards.

I reckon 1 more year would be appropriate, tell him to bring his A game for the whole season or get on his bike. We can't have too big a clean out this season.

I also think Watts is going to come good. I suspect Frase will leave at the end of this year. Watts is getting fitter, and playing better every week because of it. He'll come in to replace Frase, and be a star. Best of all, I think he'll be a bit more consistent than Gehrig - more a 3 goals a week with the occassional 5 kinda guy, rather than 6 one week and 1 the next. That'll give Roo and Kosi a little less pressure to be THE player on a given week. That's the thing that most frustrates me - when only ONE of this terrific forward line gets going. I'd much rather all three big forwards kicked 3 with Milne crumbing 2, than one of them kicking 8 and the others doing stuff all. Drives me nuts.

I don't think we need to hunt another ruck like Charman, but if one is out there for the taking, I s'pose take him. I suspect though that rucks will be a premium pick this year, with Richmond, Carlton, and several other lower ranked teams spending the higher picks on one. For that reason, I think Brooks could be offloaded for a surprising amount or a high pick - Saints have become quite adept at trading away lousy ruckmen (Knobel, Ackland...).

The future we'll be trading/picking for is in our midfield, desperately trying to find one MORE player to join the "I wanna play with Lenny, Dal, Ball, Bangers and Joey" raffle that seems to be going on at the moment. That raffle includes players like Attard, Jones, Howard, McQ, but there's plenty of room for a few more.

The last bit about our future worth noting is off the field - the fitness department. THERE's the future, right there. Total change of personel and approach, and that'll mean we're not the walking wounded of the competition after Round 4. If we'd had a better fitness routine, including more players having complete pre-seasons, we would have been a helluva lot more terrifying this year, Lyon game-plan or not.

Good points above. We need another full back as a matter of urgency, the most urgent in my opinion. I do not want McGuire that far back (and still recoering from the break) and Maxy is losing the battle with his body, even if his heart is still as determined as ever.

Watch Richo take us apart this weekend, like Lynch did the last one. We should still win though, if Adelaide lose.

We need 2 quality ruckmen as the top priority, not 2 cast-offs from other clubs in the case of Gardiner and Clarke. They came from successful clubs that were willing to give them the chop, what does that say about them???? Not a lot I would suggest.
I agree that Fiora is a fairweather player. Doesn't work hard enough when the going gets tough. Misses goals he should swallow.
