Bennell to patrol from HB to HF pinching a goal or 2 a game would be ideal. His skills are elite, we need him creating and hitting targets.

Current age in brackets.

B Sutcliffe (23) Collins (21) Ibbotson (28)
HB Tucker (19) A.Pearce (20) E.Hughes (20)
C Sheridan (22) Fyfe (24) Hill (25)
HF Weller (20) Taberner (22) Blakely (20)
FF Ballantyne (28) McCarthy (20) Walters (25)

R Clarke (26) Neale (22) Bennell (23)

Int Morabito (24) Langdon (20) Spurr (28) Grey (20)

Updated future team... OUT: Hooker, Suban IN: Hughes, Grey

That's not a bad team. Add first round pick this year as well.

Can we look at trading for Nathan Wilson and Jaeger Omeara would things look better very swiftly may be easier than getting key postion players.

These are players from WA who are at GWS or GC.

Stephen Coniglio
Jarrod Pickett - contracted unil 2017
Nathan Wilson
Cam McCarthy- We should get him this year.
Rory Lobb- contracted unil 2017
Jaeger O'Meara - Out of contract - massive concerns about his knee
Jack Martin
Callum Ah Chee
David Swallow
Brandon Matera - Out of 22, could be available cheap.
Joshua Schoenfeld
Jarrod Garlett - Out of contract

Yeah in the middle, on a wing, on a forward flank - it doesn't really matter, we'd likely rotate him around all three throughout a game.
Well I wanted him to eventually fill ballantynes spot eventually. Bennell at his best can be a 40 goal a season player like ballantyne or Walters. That's what I hope he will be. I'm not sure if we can secure a gun forward but still will be happy to grab a 190cm Howe's or crameri type that can kick 30-40 goals a season. Or another westoff type tall that can play both ends that at the worst case scenario he can be a useful depth player.

Wouldn't mind a play for Brandon Matera if the price was right.... Walters and Ballantyne. Name another genuine small forward on our list...... Only 24 years old.

Matera is a strange one, looks to have a few weapons but they add up to a great big zero at the moment.
Matera looks like he could be a bust. WAFL/NEAFL might be his peak.
Coniglio would've been a good one to get but he's resigned recently too.
I'd love the O'Meara of 2 years ago - it'll be interesting to see if he can still hit that peak when he gets back on the park (or if he does0

Our best 22 in 2017

Some holes need to be filled. The current crop can't fill the holes. Hopefully a few trades could fill some of them. One maybe from first pick in the draft. Pavlich could slot in at full forward If he chooses to play on or maybe a McCarthy if we are to nab him free of cost.

Spurr. A. Pearce. ..........

Hill. Mundy. D. Pearce

......... Taberner Bennel

Walters. ............. Ballantyne

The forward 6 is a big concern. Walters and McCarthy are the only natural forwards under 26.

Not sure I understand this post.

Dawson will be there next year and two of Sheridan, Sutcliffe, Hughes or Langdon can fill the non key defensive posts. Or Mundy moves permanently back and Blakely plays centre.

Crozier is an option for one of the HFFs, as Yarran or Mayne would be.

The only real gap is a key forward. And confidence and those injured players.

Looking ahead to round 1 2017 and, barring injuries and assuming we miss out out on McCarthy ( never understimate Bond's ability to fail ) the team should be something like this:

Spurr - Dawson - Mundy
Hughes - Pearce A - Tucker
Sheridan - Barlow - Hill
Bennell - Taberner - Weller
Walters - Apeness - Yarran

Sandilands - Fyfe - Neale

Blakely - Langdon - Morabito - Grey

On paper this team would have a fair bit of potential not to mention speed.
Mundy should from now on play as a distributor in defence a la Johnno
Apeness could give sandi help in the ruck.
All the youngsters will have had 10+ more games under their belts.

Unfortunately I fear it may be time to scrub Morabito from those future teams :(

I like the look of that backline.

Grey could even take the place of Spurr over time and then Dawson must be replaced asap in 2017 by a more useful user of the ball (and without losing any of his defensive qualities of courseo_O)

So basically your saying the defense for the past 6 games will do the job next year ? Sheridan, sutcliffe,Dawson arnt good enough to play on a quality forward line let alone be in a quality best 6 backline
