Do people generally find travelling by themselves better oris it good to have a mate(s)/gf etc go with you? Just something I've wondered about.

A bit of a travel tip here DO NOT goto the extreme north of India unless you are Indian or have an assortment of bodyguards. Trust me, not a place for some pasty guy/girl with blonde hair.

In terms travel the family and I are planning on going to Europe or America in the Summer for a few weeks. Still tossing up where to go. Not going on any tour but will most likely will be travelling by RV/Campervan as we do. Which would you guys suggest to travel to? Europe or America?

If National Lampoons has taught me anything, both are bound to end in disaster.

You cant go wrong with either indie. As you are a bit younger so clubbing and assorted tomfoolery is of limits I would suggest the states.

heaps of theme parks and attractions, interesting sites, brilliantly made for RV travel.

Either way you will have to go again when you are truly old enough to enjoy it.

Heading over to the States in December.
Going to LA, NYC, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Boston, San Antonio, Austin, Huston, San Diego, San Fransisco and then over to Cancun.

Can't wait to get over again. Last time I went it was summer so will be completely different this time.

Sounds like an awesome trip HBG. :thumbsu:

Don't you know that there is no age limit to clubbing in Macedonia? All I need to learn is how to sneak out at night, navigate my way through a foreign country, learn to speak the language oh and convince my parents to visit there. :p

I was leaning towards Europe because I want to visit sites like the Somme, Volga and Normandy. I would love to see the Kremlin, Brandenburg Gate and Eiffel Tower as well.

But knowing my family we will goto America becasue what my sister wants my dad gets. But your right about going there when I'm older, I certainly will maybe for a little different reasons than this planned trip.:p

Anyone else been to Samoa? Spent two weeks there when I was sixteen. Cool place. The people are friendly as and some of the ceremonies are really interesting to watch. If you want to feel uplifted, go to a church service. I'm not religious, but it's a really cool experience hearing hundreds of voices singing in perfect harmony. Got goosebumps from that.

Teenage girls have a tendency to be quite attractive. Ten years and 50 kilos later, not so much.

l went to UK in 05 ashes tour and did a 18 day tour of Europe loved it.anyway fast forward to now.l'm off to sunshine coast next week, being on a budget sunshine will have to do for now.would like to go overseas again some day.

To make it even better I'm doing it with 4 of my best mates. We are going for a wedding in San Antonio.

Christmas day we will be at Madison Square Garden watching the Bulls Vs Knicks in NYC and on new years we will be in Vegas for the Bucks.

Being an apprentice means ive done minimal travel. Done bali. Was good fun ut could be better.

Next is phuket next april. Then gold coast later in the year.

Then the plan is new zealand, europe and america in no particular order.

As far as Laos goes, Vang Vieng is a combination of the most fun and most dangerousness i've ever experienced. Total anarchy.

Vientiane is a shithole, don't bother but for a stop over. Luang Prubang is nice. Going on the Gibbon Experience is meant to be amazing.

Thailand....everyone goes to Phuket, Phi Phi, Ko Samui + the other islands, Bangkok and maybe Chang Mai. Those are the main areas.

Vang Vieng is the place we are planning to go, so good to see that you enjoyed it.

Also doing the full moon beach party on the 19th of Jan too.

Getting pretty pumped about the trip now, only 2 months away:thumbsu:

Laos is an amazing place. There's more to it than just VV. My girlfriend went back there this year though and said VV is definitely getting seedier. Apparently a whole mass of new bars have sprung up and there were pissed fights every night she was there. I'm not opposed to getting loose, hell I loved tubing, but it is kinda sad to see that happen to what was a quiet place to have a lot of fun.

I went to Zanzibar a few years back. That was pretty cool. The Old Stone Town is amazing. Actually, lots of parts of Africa are great - challenging but well worth visiting.

Iran for a month starting in late January. Might squeeze in some of the former Soviet Stans too.

Nice one. Really want to go to Iran but have never made it. Yet.

Probs next trip I do I'll go back to the UK/Ireland to visit mates but do some more of the ME on the way. Want to see more of Syria, will try and get some Iranian action and will probably do some Kurdistan as well. If shits not TOO mental might even see if I can sneak into Iraq proper.

8) Dubai (tallest buildings in the world, palm islands, world islands, maybe the globe around 1 of the palm islands, at a current rate, in 20 years, this place will be the most amazing place in the world)

Dubai is a spectacular shithole filled with arseholes.

Heard Zanzibar is awesome. I know a fat annoying bitch I used to work with who runs a hotel there.

Maldives might be OK for a honeymoon but I wouldn't be getting married there.

with.

it's more fun, plus each of you pick up on things the other wouldn't and end up with different views of the same thing.

also, I've done a mix of backpackers and apartments/hotels. would recommend. if you're going for a long time, go self contained apartments cause eating out for months is heaps expensive.

and as messenger says the Ibis chain is very good. The Ibis Belfast gets a personal tick from me if anyone's going there.:thumbsu:

I went 10 years ago (Christmas/New Year 2000). Excellent trip; if you are a scuba diver you'll have a blast. Get to Male for a visit; a city on 2 square kilometres in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Landing at the airport is good fun too; it's a small island next to the capital with just enough room for a 747 landing strip and a few bulidings.

It is pricey although that may be less of an issue with the resorts all excepting US dollars rather than the local coin. For non-included meals and some activities (snorkelling), we racked up a US$100-150 a day tab.

There are dozens of resorts, so do your research. Popular destination with Europeans, especially the Italians and Germans.

Another good one for a honeymoon is Langkawi. A little closer and a bit cheaper. I stayed at Tanjung Rhu a few years back.

lol thanks plugger. will get married in Melbourne but was hoping for something along these lines for the honeymoon

Wow, not much margin for error there. I think I'd prefer not to know about that airport if I was flying there.:D
