I'd rather see Barry go back to kickboxing than stay in the UFC, regardless of the division in the UFC that he's fighting in. I don't really see how things would be much better at 205 anyway. His lack of wrestling and ground game aren't going to be any better suited to 205 than heavyweight. I suppose he'd be able to take a punch better though.

I think Barry will probably end up fighting for the kickboxing promotion Glory. I don't know how well he'd go but he'd be in some entertaining fights.

Aldo vs Pettis at 155 is the next title fight talked about. If Benson had a good performance he might have earned another shot, and if Thompson got the decision he may have had the next crack at Pettis.

They let a couple drop to 145 and get immediate title shots at Aldo so I guess he deserves one back. The winner gets Bendo which either way will be great.

Pettis isn't a big 155 so it'd be interesting to see Aldo fight someone a lot bigger than him in Bendo. He's so used to having the size advantage.

Pat Cummins has been brought in to fight Cormier. Don't know a lot about him, other than he's 4-0, had a fight on a Strikeforce undercard and is a former all American wrestler in college. Not expecting much at all, but hopefully he can surprise and give Cormier a decent fight.

With this change the fighters in the top two fights on this show have a total of five UFC fights between them. I can't imagine there's been a UFC card with less.

Last two fights on that show were the Gracie/Gordeau tournament final and the Gracie/Shamrock semi-final. Both finalists had fought twice and in the semi both had fought once, meaning they'd actually combined for six UFC fights :)

Dug around a little bit though and found that the top two fights at UFC 16 were Shamrock/Zinoviev (one fight and no fights) and TK vs Kimo (zero fights and three fights).

Whoever BJJ Scout is, they know what they're talking about. Really interesting breakdowns on the Rousey/McMann fight. They have a couple of good videos about the takedown battle in GSP/Hendricks on their channel too.

Haha, I worked that out about 15 minutes after I posted it and hoped nobody would notice. Well played Ross. :thumbsu:

Good find on the UFC 16 main and co-main too. I looked at cards where Strikeforce and WEC fighters were debuting in main events, but couldn't find one close.

Gilbert Melendez and Bellator have come to terms on a deal, but the UFC can match the offer if they wish. He'll be making more money whether he ends up in Bellator or remains in the UFC than he would if he accepted what the UFC initially offered. Good for him. Bellator's the clear number 2 promotion but they're a very long way behind the UFC, so strengthening their roster like this would be great.

Machida/Mousasi tomorrow is a great fight. It'll probably be an amazingly brilliant technical display that has some fans calling it boring because they didn't stand there and trade.

Gil's a big loss, love watching him, tough as nails. And yeah looking forward to Machida/Mousasi, Gegard is a bit unknown at this level so it should be interesting I reckon. I'll tip Machida because I think he'll be MW champ before the year, geez he looks ripped at this weight and I don't think anyone in the division has anything for him really.

Anyone going to AFC 8? I'll be there, looking forward to it, been intending on going to the Pavilion for a while.

I have been to the last 5 AFC's, the card for this one didn't really excite me so i gave it a miss. Where you sitting?
