The Bravo/Gracie rematch was great. Even though it was technically a draw, everyone knows that Bravo got the better of Royler again. Except for Royce it seems, I read that he believes Royler dominated Bravo. Lol

Also worth noting that Cris Cyborg lost by unanimous decision in a Muay Thai fight today. Even though it's a different sport it'll hurt the leveraging power she'd have had with the UFC for getting big money and a fight with Ronda.
Yeah, it shouldn't but no doubt it will. I can imagine it now, Dana White yelling at us about how Cyborg doesn't deserve the money she's after because she couldn't even beat someone who's 1-3 in MMA. I'm just hoping he'll go completely over the top, which results in it competing with the hilarity of him essentially saying that Askren isn't good enough to be in the UFC.

I'd heard that Cyborg was fighting on the weekend but I hadn't paid much attention and thought she'd be fighting someone she'd demolish. I had no idea she was fighting someone who's one of the very best in women's muay thai. After her effort in this fight I have even more appreciation for her striking.

Bravo and Rogan watching the match with Royler on Rogan's podcast. Really interesting to hear Bravo describing everything that was going on. I think it'd be pretty cool to see something like this done with MMA fighters watching their fights.

They have done at least one of them. I remember (barely... had been drinking so memory is hazy) catching Rashad Evans going through his fight against Chuck Liddell late one night. I hope they do/have done more as it was quite good.

Wow!

I now understand the essence, no the nature of the word dumb.

I lol'd hard then when they started to all surround & beat up the last guy was mesmerised buy the abject stupidity of it all.

Would watch again.

Jake Shields has been given his marching orders after his loss to Lombard at 171. While I don't particularly enjoy his style, I'll miss having him in the UFC as he's still one of the best guys out there.

Didn't watch that video, but just from the picture I can tell it would be all kinds of terrible.

Shields getting released isn't very surprising to me; just another release like that of Fitch and Okami. It's sad that these guys are getting released at the same time that the UFC is signing a bunch of guys who clearly are never going to be anywhere near as good as these guys. Stand and trade, no matter how terrible your striking is and you'll be relatively safe. Bellator's the same, no doubt they'll pass on Shields as they have Fitch and Okami. Then there's the UFC and Bellator both not wanting Askren too.

Just read this. WTF? Jake has been fitch'ed. Costs the UFC good money and is out of title contention. I'm sure that the Diaz boys will take this well.

Wow, that's kind of strange. I mean it was recently he beat another ground tactician in Maia - who's also had a few losses lately, maybe he's on shaky ground too?

In other news: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11233980

Te Huna's first Middleweight bout announced with Marquardt in NZ in June. He's gonna be a ******* huge Middleweight.

Marquardt moving back up to MW too then. Pretty weird that Marquardt and Te Huna were just separated by a couple of weight classes and now they'll be fighting. I like the fight, not really sure who'll win. Then I saw it was the main event and I was a bit disappointed.

Nice to see NZ getting a card. Marquardt vs Te Huna is an interesting fight, but not really main event worthy. Surprised but glad to see Nate getting another fight after a pair of bad KO losses though, I still think there are some good fights for him.

Really diluting the quality of the product in recent times. Really no way it is main event worthy. Maybe if they had Hunt as the mine event then that would work. Other then him not being from NZ that is.

Thats what WEC & Strike force were for, letting the lesser known or B grade fighters work there way up, & main event those events. Not saying they shouldn't be in the UFC but surely not the main event on a card.

Showing little regard for the smaller markets too.

Not really surprised about shields, UFC is all about entertainment value these days, when guys like Overeem and Lombard are getting criticized by the boss its not a good time to be a one dimensional grappler.
