I'd be pretty cut to see Georgie cut, I enjoy watching his fights and the UFC wouldn't be making any aussie fans.
I don't think that's their concern to be honest. George looked outclassed by Siver, KO'd badly by dos Anjos (both of whom have lost since).... doesn't sound like the kind of guy who'd get a 4th chance to me, particularly if he loses to Gomi who's also looked bad of late.

Talk today of UFC 145 being in Sydney rather than a UFC on Fox card. Kampmann and Alves still linked to the card, but with it likely being a PPV now, I'd expect at least one higher profile fight to be added soon.

Oh, yeah of course not. It'd just be a bit dissapointing. But it's true that you make your own luck and he's just about running out of it. I never saw the Dos Anjos fight but there wouldn't have been much to see. G-Sot needs to improve his standup, as it stands he's not bad but the standard in the UFC is higher than his abilities. He needs to incorporate more bloody kicking into his game!

Yeah this, I was always surprised at how people tended to rate his standup as being pretty good, I thought it was pretty poor. For a while i thought Kenny Florian would be a good fight for Sots, but on the feet K Flo would annihilate him. I also don't reckon Sots' wrestling is that wonderful either.

I think his ground game is better than his standup, coming from 10th planet and working closely with Eddie Bravo etc. but we don't see enough of it. His takedowns are also poor, that fight against Siver was painful to watch because he just couldn't commit to the takedown to the level rquired. I'm sure that would have been one of the 1st things he would've looked to address after that fight.

BJJ guys just don't work the takedowns as agressively as Wrestlers.

What I think he needs to do is work his wrestling relentlessly. He's as good on the ground as anyone at 155, but it's useless if he can't get it there. His stand up is decent (although his chin may be a little suspect) and would look a lot better if his opponents were having to worry about a power double as well as the punches and kicks coming his way.

Disappointed to hear about Leben too... like he said he's his own worst enemy! Hope he can get his issues sorted and come back strong in a years time.

It will still be a fight night card I believe, but may just be numbered, like UFC 138. Can't see them having two big overseas PPV's within two weeks.

It was never going to be a UFC on Fox, rather on FX.

no shit, he has some of the best bjj in the ufc

Here's an inspirational video that every MMA fan needs to see. it's a serious issue.

Awesome, I hope what everyone wants happens plenty of times in that fight. Loved the part with Rivera's boxing coach towards the end.

His ground game is definitely much better than his standup. His last two fights are the only ones where we haven't seen his ground game on display as Siver stuffed all the takedowns and then dominated on the feet and dos Anjos knocked him out before he had much of a chance to get it to the ground. All the fights in the UFC before that he won because of his dominance on the ground and his ability to get the fight there. The higher level guys in the division generally have better takedown defence so working on his takedowns is what he needs to do if he's to climb his way up the ranks. Once he gets it to the ground not many would be a match for him.

Have heard he was a decent wrestler back in the day and that a change over to MMA might be on the cards, but he's very small and kind of old to contemplate it now. Sounds like a cash grab if he goes ahead with it.

I hear from the Ebersole camp, that UFC 145 is in Sydney, Dana apparently wanted to have it in June but recently changed his mind.
The following fights have been confirmed by UFC.com, but not yet added to the Official Fight Card.
Welterweight bout: Thiago Alves vs. Martin Kampmann[2]
Lightheavyweight bout: Forrest Griffin vs. James Te-Huna

Ebersole is also very happy about his new opponent, he was worried about McDonald.

Ebersole had every reason to be worried about MacDonald as I coudnt see any way he would win. Patrick's no walk in the park either, but I agree it's a much better match up for him.

Griffin vs Te Huna is a big step up for James and a big step down for Forrest. Hopefully James can step up and give a good account of himself.

Appreciate the update mate. :thumbsu:

It's not good that GSP is out for so long but I think the Condit/Diaz fight will be as good a fight as the GSP/Diaz one would have been.

With GSP out for 10 months or so. The winner of Diaz/Condit will probably defend the belt once before fighting GSP again.

Interesting to see who they match Koscheck with now as well.
Would've thought Ellenberger for no.1 contender but he's locked into a fight already with Diego Sanchez.

Kos has been talking about taking a fight at 185... reckon this is as good a chance as any to do it. Wouldn't have thought he'd get a #1 contender fight this soon after losing in dominant fashion to the champ, but with GSP now sidelined it's a decent chance of happening I guess.
