Yep I've decided fightmetric is bullshit, and I'll never reference it again. I've watched the first round 10 times and the only strikes Sonnen lands are stupid little things dirty boxing up against the cage that wouldn't do any damage, and three decent hammer fists one the takedown.
Yeah ok.

You disagree with it so its bullshit.

You don't think they maybe put more effort into determining it than you?

The fight was contentious but in reality, Sonnen easily did enough to win, and I had money on Bisping.

It doesn't take into account punches that are slipped. Hammer fists and jabs are rated the same. You can't judge a fight on number of strikes. Sonnen landed like 10 shitty little pucnhes dirty boxing while Bisping had double underhooks, there would be absolutely no power behind them. Yet they count. Bullshit.

In the Mayhem vs Bisping fight were all strikes equal? I don't even dislike or like either fighter, I'm actually happy that we'll see Sonnen vs Silva 2. Doesn't change that I thought Bisping won, along with Dana and Sonnen.

Get hit by Sonnen throwing at any strength and tell me "there would be absolutely no power behind them".

Trained fighters hit hard no matter how it looks on TV.

Yes but he isn't fighting some untrained amateur. He is fighting against a bloke who has trained to take all kinds of punishment and in the realm of professional fighting, they were nothing shots.

Conditioning towards fighting as a career profession does.
The most minuscule amount, muscle is about the only thing that helps and there is virtually no muscle on your face.

Honestly I train with some pretty decent guys and I have seen some very trained dudes get knocked out with innocuous blows.

Edit - Back to UFC on FX: Alves vs Kampmann, it really could be a fantastic card as the lighter guys almost always bring the more exciting fights, and four top flyweights is a formula for fireworks. The fact that this is the first Australian UFC event that isn't a PPV kinda shows and I expect will be the excuse come March 3.

They roll punches, know how to move the head to minimise damage. He wasn't taking them to the button he was taking them behind the ear. I don't care how weak his jaw is, even Chuck Lidell wouldn't have been knocked out from them.

Who's watching UFC on Fuel right now? Facebook prelims have finished now, with Brookins finishing with a really nice and surprising KO.

On One at 12 now.

No biggie, just a suggestion. Most of the discussion in this thread is to do with upcoming cards and individual cards generally get their own thread, so I figured maybe there'd been news of an upcoming card when I saw a new post in here.

Good win by Ellenberger, did well to survive the late onslaught from Diego.

Impressive, entertaining fight.
I'm not sure what happened in the last 90 seconds or so, Jake looked all over him & then Diego just went for it & took over.

Great fight though.

Ellenberger/Sanchez was a great fight. I'm with Sanchez, I wanted to see 2 more rounds. Dana White said that from now on every main event is going to be 5 rounds besides a couple that have already been scheduled.

Ellenberger hit Sanchez with some really big shots but Sanchez is so tough. I'm not sure what happened towards the end either. Something happened that backed Ellenberger up.

I think Sanchez knew he needed the stoppage and just went for it.

He cut Ellenberger on the forehead/top of the nose pretty deep in the last couple of minutes and I thought he was going to pull it off when he mounted the back.

Another 2 rounds would have been amazing. Could have been fight of the year material.

Loved Struve v Herman aswell. Struve was just too big in the end. Herman did well to survive that long.

Yeah, Sanchez stepping it up played a part. Most the fight were good. Menjivar/Albert fight was a really good back and forth fight while it lasted too.

Yeah that was a cool finish. Bellator seems to be the home for inverted triangle chokes. One which followed the Imada one.
