Mark Hunt/Stefan Struve has been added to UFC 146. Now it's an all Heavyweight Main Card. That fight will have a nice finish one way or the other.

Ellenberger v Kampmann on TUF 15 Finale and it will be a 5 round fight.

Aldo to defend his belt at UFC 149, but who he is fighting hasn't been announced.

Some great fights announced lately. Ellenberger/Kampmann is an awesome fight. Who's Aldo defending against? Initially I thought Hioki or the Chan Sung Jung/Poirier winner but the timeframe makes me think it's Hioki. Hioki said in an interview after his last fight that he wanted more fights before a title shot, but I guess if offered a shot you're not likely to turn it down.

Erik Koch was probably only one fight away from a title shot, but it would have to be the winner of the Chan Sung Jung/Poirier fight if they're healthy. It would give them 2 and half months to prepare for Aldo.

Maia dropped down? Woah.

Not that I think it'll do much, if he can't take down the larger (and assumingly therefore slower oponents) he's gonna have trouble with the speed and depth of stand up fighters in the welterweight division.

Maybe instead of focussing on his stand up so much (apparently has been working on it for almost 2 years non stop - much to the detriment of his ground game) he should focus on his ground game again because he's lost the mantle of one of the MMA worlds most dangerous ground tacticians and work more on his wrestling take downs whilst training on his ground game.

If he's put that much time into his stand up, only to be made an embarrassment of in his last few fights still i'd say he's wasting his precious time.

Think you're being a touch harsh Nikos. Demian looked average last time out against Weidman (who is a stud), but looked good against Munoz and was unlucky not to get the win in that fight. Considering Munoz was in a number 1 contender fight recently, there's no real shame in that. I do agree with you that it's his wrestling he needs to improve the most.

I'll be interested to see how he goes at 170. He was near the top at 185 for a long time, but always seemed a bit undersized. 170's a lot stronger than 185 though and has a log of power wrestlers with heavy hands who should prove tough match ups for him.

Didn't Maia have issues with his last weight cut at 185 and looked awful in that fight as a result? So now looks to drop a division....Sheesh. Dude will be wasted by halfway thru the first round.

Agree with this. Only fight Maia has looked terrible in of late was the Weidman fight. Clearly outgrappled Santiago before that and had a really close fight with Munoz the fight before that in which he wobbled Munoz on the feet in the first round. Outgrappled Grove and Miranda prior to that.

I didn't see anything about a bad weight cut. All I know is that Weidman was the one cutting heaps of weight and Maia looked just as fatigued as him if not more. No idea why he looked that bad but if he was having trouble cutting to 185 I don't think he would be going to 170.

Rick Story v Rich Attonito set for UFC on FX 4 (Guida v Maynard) I hope that Rick wins this, but surely he could drop down to 155?

He did put on a heap of muscle prior to either the Santiago or Munoz fight, so may have struggled to lose the water weight against Weidman. Losing the bulk he just added shouldn't be too much of a problem. I doubt in his earlier fights he was cutting much weight at all, so if he can get back to around that size, the cut to 170 shouldn't be too big of a problem.

Rick Story at 155? Would he be cutting off an arm to make that weight? He's a very good size for 170 and has a strength advantage over a good number of guys in the division. Just needs to polish up his striking a little and he'll be a force.

Before the Alves fight Rick Story said that he is used to fighting bigger guys and that he doesnt cut much weight. He also said that he quite often walks around at 180, which isn't huge compared to Koscheck, Alves and GSP who walk around at 197.

Maybe I heard it wrong, but I remember thinking that he could probably diet for a while and then cut to make 155. I do agree with you about his strength, I was just making an observation about his size. Maybe he has the same view of weight cuts that Frankie has. Either way, he isn't getting pushed around at 170.

Just an observation, but you don't hear as many people step up in weight classes, it's always down. Why is it that people who walk around heavier than fight night more often than not push the weight cut envelope further and not head towards weight classes they're closer to?

I would call it the Kenny Florian principle. They believe that wins will be easier in the lower weight classes against the smaller guys.

Hadn't heard that. Just re-watched his fight with Kampmann at 139 and he looked much broader than Martin who used to fight at 185. If you heard right and he walks around at 180, a cut to 155 wouldn't be completely out of the question I guess.

This article has Rick Story talking about his weight:
http://www.espn.co.uk/ufc/sport/story/97578.html
On fight night, I'm usually walking around anywhere between 187 and 191 pounds, depending on how much liquid I drink.
I've always thought that he was a big welterweight. Weighing between 187 and 191 pounds come fight time is pretty big.

This one about GSP before the Shields fight:
http://www.mmamania.com/2011/4/28/2...s-st-pierre-could-weigh-as-much-as-193-pounds

Says he was walking around at 194 pounds and at fight time would be 192-193.

Koscheck recently said in a Q and A that he walks around at 197 during a camp, but over 205 normally. There seems to be a pattern of fighters cutting 15 – 20 pounds.

Story also said
I fought at 205 at some of my amateur fights and my first professional fight I was still coming down from a high weight and then I fought Mario Miranda at 185 for my first professional fight.
If he can cut to 155 or not, one thing I’m sure of is that he would have no chance of moving up in weight. We think that GSP could, even Koscheck says that he would happily fight at 185, but do you think that Story could? Not in my opinion. He would have a better chance at 155 by a long way. I don’t think that anyone considers him a big WW, and I know that he has said the same.

I don't think a move up or down would be beneficial for Rick to be honest. He's essentially the same size as the champ at 170 and is both strong and fast at the weight. He could win some fights at 185 as his chin and wrestling would help him, but he would likely never get near the top 15.

As for him at 155, I can only imagine he'd end up like James Irvin when he tried to cut to 185:
