Yeah, the main event was an awesome fight. I thought Poirier was going to win but Korean Zombie was very impressive. In the past he was more of an all out brawler but of late he's been a bit more controlled whilst still being very exciting.

Nice to see Cerrone get back on track too. He picked Stephens apart and didn't give Stephens a chance. Not sure why this fight wasn't the co-main event.

Maldonado/Pokrajec was a good fight. The ref in the Jabouin/Hougland fight was indecisive. When Jabouin dropped Hougland with that body shot he got in the way of Jobouin as if he was going to stop it then decided that it should continue.

Damn, Mark Hunt out of the UFC 146 fight with Struve. Lavar Johnson steps in to take on Struve. Was looking forward to that fight but Johnson/Struve should be good.

Barnett vs. Cormier about to start. Get on it.
Cormier fought a great fight, mixing up his striking and takedowns well. Barnett took quite a beating but kept coming forward.

Melendez/Thomson was a good back and forth fight that could have gone either way.

I'd love to see Josh in the UFC, provided he can get his issues sorted. So many interesting fights for him there.

Thompson/Melendez was a terrific fight. Haven't seen their first two, but after that I'll be making an effort to. Josh was unlucky not to get the nod, but I thought Gilbert did enough in the first three rounds to get the nod. Thompson seemed to get the better of most striking exchanges, just seemed a little gun shy at points.

Spang and Feijao were both very impressive too.

Another good Strikeforce card. Cormier very imprressive. Barnett very tough. I would have scored Melendez/Thomson round 1 a draw?
With all the disruptions to 146 it still looks a sensational card.

First there was Fight Club. Now we have Fight Church

http://www.fightchurchfilm.com

Fight Church is a feature documentary about the confluence of Christianity and mixed martial arts, including ministries which train fighters. The film follows several pastors and popular fighters in their quest to reconcile their faith with a sport that many consider violent and barbaric. Faith is tried and questions are raised. Can you really love your neighbor as yourself and then punch him in the face?

So BJ Penn has verbally agreed to fight Rory MacDonald most likely in Toronto at UFC 152. I have no idea why BJ is interested in this fight at 170, he should drop to 155 where he is at his best. Fighting a larger wrestler is not the best match up for BJ, and Rory is hardly a big name for him. Yes, Rory is a high up and coming talent, but he doesn't have the name attraction that I thought that the UFC would throw at BJ. Maybe the UFC are using this fight to promote Rory?

In other news, Stann has injured his shoulder and is out of his fight with Lombard. That would have been a good fight!

What ever happened to BJ vs Koscheck?? No no no to Rory McDonald. I wanted a match where I'd be rooting for BJ, but Rory's awesome to watch and would only be damaging his title prospects if he lost.

I disagree, this is a no lose fight for Rory. If he loses to BJ he will bounce back in one fight, maybe 2 at the very worst. He gets to fight a legend of the sport as a co main event (most likely, I am speculating) and get a taste of what the build up and pressure is like. With the GSP injury the WW division is backed up! Rory wouldn't be getting a title shot for at least 12 months if everything went right for him, and by then a loss to BJ will be a distant memory.

I can't see Rory hanging around at 170 for too many years to be honest, he is already a big guy and he is only 22. Either way he is going to be around for many years to come, which is great for the fans of MMA!

BJ said he wasn't interested.
BJ can make 155 and Koscheck can fight at 185. Koscheck is a big wrestler with good cardio which is the worst kind of match up for BJ, even with his TD defence. I am not surprised that BJ didn't want that fight, but I am surprised that he wants this fight!

Does anyone think that UFC 147 is going to one of the lowest selling PPV cards in recent memory? Vitor is out with a broken hand and now Wandy get to be retired by Rich the same as he did to Chuck. It is not even a MW fight, it is being fought at Franklinweight 195.

Added to that, the Silva v Sonnen II gets moved, Aldo is not on the card, and Mike Russow is co main event?! The UFC are not even advertising this very hard, they focused more on the epic 148 card. They seem resigned to the fact that this card has pretty much failed. If they had the freedom to make this a free event I am sure they would.

I can see what you're saying and I tend to agree, and heck, if he beats BJ that'd shoot him up even further to title contention. Where do you see him if not at 170? He looks a bit small for middleweight.

147 looks like a massive flop. I guess it's past the point of trying to market it as something else though like an FX or Fuel TV event. It'd be great and go a tiny bit to redeeming the card if they could dig up another heavyweight/LHW match on there, not that it's going to happen. Maybe Gustafsson would be good to see on there, purely spitballing here though.
