That puts him between flyweight and bantamweight if I'm not mistaken. Is this a catchweight fight? If so, am I right in assuming he normally fights at flyweight? Either way, hope he does well and you get a chance to watch.

I remember you've posted about training BJJ before, is that his background? What can we expect to see from him as first time viewers?
I think he fights in both divisions - ie. take what he can get, like a lot of local fighters. i'm not sure of the weight class of this fight tbh. Cheers mate! I'm sure i'll get a link or something going to the fight. I think maybe even Youtube gets a lot of Hex fights on there...?

He's a high level BJJ purple belt with a penchant for triangles hahah.
But he's been fighting mostly boxing and muai thai fights the last few years - he seems to always outwork opponents by pressing forward with volume strikes and smothering his opponent with clinch strikes etc.
Ridiculous cardio - I remember going to watch him and asking mates where he was before his fight and he's apparently out running around the block a few times beforehand while other fighters were warming up out back or dealing with nerves.

Thanks for that! I googled him after I posted that and saw his only professional fight he won by triangle in the first round. I also googled the rest of the card and saw that he's fighting Jordan O'Connor who had a very impressive KO win on one of the recent Hex cards at bantamweight an looked like a really good prospect from memory.

Yeah his opponent reads as a bit of a beast

Should be a barnburner.

Apparently Bates - another perth fighter (Welterweight) is out of his fight against John Vake for this Hex card.

So even if you do have fightpass you still don't get to watch the main-event?

That's ****ed.
Yeah, pretty annoying. I'm still getting good value but I was looking forward to watching this on the big screen on a Sat night.

It happened once b4 with a FP event from Sweden (or somewhere in Europe anyway), got up really early for that. Got past the prelims and that was it

Looking forward to it! I remember watching O'Connor's last fight and thinking he had a lot of power for a little bloke. Hopefully your mate has a good chin on him just in case!

Yeah it sounds like he has hands of stone - I hope so! :$

Turns out weigh in hasn't happened yet so I assume it'll be at flyweight.

Been watching old fights on fight pass, would like to know what other posters thought of Thiago Silva? He was 16-3 before he went off the rails. Great stand up and from Brazil so without googling I'm going to say he is also a black belt in BJJ.

Was awesome to watch right up until Machida turned his lights off. Then it all started tracking downhill.

One of my original favourite fighters.

Was a psycho in the cage (in a good way), now it's clear he is also a psycho out of it. Pretty disappointing really.

Was looking like a future contender until he ran in to Machida like bomber_mad_1989 said. He did look great against Jardine straight after that fight and came close to stopping Rashad in the third round of their fight, but ended up getting out worked to a decision. The Vera fight he looked fantastic (although a bit classless by playing the bongo's on his head in the third round), then gave a false urine sample due to him taking steroids. I believe he even willingly admitted to taking to them help a back injury heal rather than pulling out of the fight. It's been mostly downhill for him since then with a few nice wins and some bad losses.

He had vicious striking, good BJJ and even showed decent wrestling on occasion. Interstingly, I saw the below article posted on another message board today... looks like he's debuting in Glory kickboxing next weekend:

You have a ridiculous memory if you wrote that off the top of your head haha.

Had a bit of help (mostly just to double check things), but the majority of it I remembered. You could say I was a bit of a fan of Silva's so paid fairly close attention when he fought.

I agree with both. Silva had the Real "Killer instinct". Ruthless hands.

I watched the Silva v Machida. I see Machida at that time, the same way I see Wonderboy. No one really knew how to approach him, Then shogun figured it out. Silva was a LHW the same time Anderson Silva had his run. Then obviously in 2013, Weidman beats him. If Thiago was around 5 years ago...No doubt he could of won UFC gold. Trained at ATT (I think) after being at Chute Boxe
He literally just went off the rails? Lost via KO to Machida then just thought *** it, I guess. Behind Shogun, He was my favourite fighter in the early days.

Cheers for the link GT, I will be watching Glory for sure.

I had the sound off because the kids were going to sleep but if im not mistaken that was a very good submission win by your mate Nickos66
So I heard, apparently a nice 1st round guillotine! I haven't seen it but the group chat keeps going off hahaha.

Frank Barca is annoying as hell as a ring announcer, the last HEX card here he was unbearable after 3-4 hours. Apparently being a 10th planet black belt takes you places. :p
