Got DC by Decision. Superior wrestling and think his tank goes deeper.
I think the wrestling is probably a wash with Stipe's size advantage factored in. DC is not unfamiliar with reach disadvantage but unlike Gus or JBJ, Stipe has KO power and a 7" reach advantage.

DC didn't have problems with Barnett who is a similar size to Stipe but with a better wrestling petigree. Obviously Barnett doesn't pose a threat with his hands unlike Stipe, but still think the wreslting will be in DC's favour and I'd imagine he'll fight at about 230' anyway.

I think Stipe is just a bigger, better, badder version of DC. I see two very similar skill sets just one dude is bigger and stronger.

Stipe by TKO at some point.
I’d say rumble hits harder than Stipe and DC took his. Also I can’t recall DC being troubled by a heavyweight. Stipe however is the best of the best at that weight so that could be the difference.

I assume he is taking the shot seeing Cain, according to DC’s post fight interview won’t be back til the end of 2018. Perhaps he retires if he wins the HW belt.

I think the thought process is bones never did it so this will separate me from him
Had the same thoughts too. Jones wouldn’t climb the mountain so I will to prove I’ll go where he wouldn’t.

I like DC so it would be a fitting bird flip to Jones but I just don’t see him getting it done against Stipe, that said, I predict about as many wrong as I do right hence I love the sport.

Would be stoked for him if he did it.

I kinda think DC will take Stipe to nasty places and not let up.

Stipe same height as Jon Jones at 1.93m.

Defo an interesting match up.

its an awesome fight imo. both divisions lack genuine contenders, so the timing makes perfect sense as well.

Before the move to light heavy, DC could easily have been on his was to being the best HW in the world. It was almost inevitable that he would end up at the top, making for an awkward situation for him and Cain.

Bravo to all involved for putting this together.

just on that. dom cruz made a great point on the weekend, what defines a take down? an how do they score it? reckon we all think different in that regard.

dobber fight they gave zero for camos judo take downs.. yet rated leg kicks higher! I'm at a lost after the weekend.

Also, the scoring levels of takedowns is an interesting point. Should a clean double leg takedown in the centre of the octagon be scored or considered the same as a takedown against the cage that takes 30-40 secs from initial shoot to completion of takedown?

I think takedowns should be considered a single significant strike. The advantage is being in a dominant position giving you the opportunity to land more strikes, if you fail to do so the fighter shouldn't be rewarded.

Nah, it should be scored under octagon control like it always has.

This is where it becomes harder to score. It's all dependent on what happens after the takedown IMO. A clean double leg that ends up in guard which leads to the fighter on bottom hitting a sweep obviously would lead to a less compelling argument as a clinch takedown that takes 30-40 seconds to accomplish, but lands the fighter in top control in side guard who then moves to crucifix and comes close to ending the fight. It's such a dynamic sport that there are always going to be rounds that two competent judges will disagree on.

Stipe puts DC away within 3 rounds and DC retires.

I can see why DC is doing this, its a big payday and is a win/win for him. Having said that he is going to be brutalized by Stipe.

Stip $1.25 - DC $3.50
