No point in Askren fighting at 170 if he won’t fight Woodley
Not sure the point of him going to the ufc if he wont fight the champ. He has only ever fought at 170.

Need 165 and 175 to be added and 170 to go, I guess, just for more options. 155 to 170 is too big of a gap.

Dana doesn’t seem to want to do it, but this looks to be the perfect time if they are to ever do it.

He’ll have to fight at 185, if he beats Colby at 170 it would screw the division.

I hope dearly that DJ was/is fully onboard. Would rather watch DJ any day of the week over Askren.

Askren will sell but DJ is the pinnacle of what an MMA fighter can be
Yeah says alot about the UFC/,WME if they let him go.

Of all the dominant champions to lose in recent years and did so in quick fashion, he lost by a bees dick in a decision and in a great fight.

Probably on shit terms with UFC, just hope he's getting decent coin if he goes.

If Cejudo fights TJ may as well fold the Flyweight division.

I assume this is the plan. Has been threatened in the past.

With Alvarez and DJ going to ONE, ill watch their events and hopefully they start to grow and become a real competitor for more fighters

Wait a sec I think everyone is discounting how good Askrin is too I actully thought he was a 155 er. and prob is he should of been fighting in the UFC anyways but had a pissing contest with Dana and you know how that happens. Dont think its a bad move for Dj ONE is a light weight Specialist and there be some great fights for him there.

What I heard was he was going to fight Khabib then GSP presuming he wins alot of the connor fans wont appreciate him because of his wrestling but I havnt seen him fight for awhile not sure how his game looks these days
sorry just looked up his record my mistake always been 170. Just wait and watch the UFC spin it there will be Title fights dont you worry about that,

Hoping DJ-Askren deal opens the floodgates for MMA organizations to do trades with one another.

Problem with Askren is that only MMA fans know who he is. He can absolutely fight, ignore the lack of names on his MMA record. In the UFC he'd be a top 5 Welterweight.

As for DJ going, I don't blame him. ONE will treat him like the Champ he is and will be paid accordingly.

UFC Flyweight division will be near on dead with DJ leaving.

Will he? He's not the most exciting sort of fighter (elite though he is), he seems to talk good shit though. I don't think many non casuals know of him do they?

I'd love to see Askren v GSP at some point, I think it's a challenge that would get GSP motivated, Woodley would be good too.

I can't understand why the UFC don't do it. They've made it clear they are a business first and adding another weight division allows a few things.

1. A new belt and thus a new champion which means they can almost have two titles on the line at each PPV event.
2. Allows much more scope for superfights. Khabib for example could try to cut to 145 to have a shot at the title (I know he can barely make 155 but its just an eg) And would hardly have to cut to fight at 165. Conor has been at 145, 155 and wouldn't be dwarfed at 165 so could get title shots in three divisions also but as it stands it would be stupid to fight any 170 of note at his size.
3. Many can on just make 170 and a lot at 155 would be a little small so it really does create a whole new division.
4. GSP could make 165 and would no doubt want to take the opportunity to be the first 3 division champ. Again from a financial perspective this makes massive sense for the UFC. Imagine how big the inaugural 165 title bout would be if it was GSP vs Conor.

There must be a reason they haven't I just cant see it.

It shouldn’t really be based on short term factors like GSP fighting.
They’re reason would be a weakens the talent pool.

Its the shit talk. Although his shit talk is very different, no casuals knew who Chael Sonnen was before Silva 1.

He will see more than DJ. Thats for sure.

Wasnt the Funkster meant to fight in UFC before?
Recall something about the Fubkster being told to have a warm up match somewhere first which he did then UFC said nahhh not interested??

Dana is a knob
Just put the 165 division in ffs
Piss off the 170 and up it to 175
Everything goes up by ten pounds and theres another title

Won't be long and guys are going to jump to One and PFL if he keeps jumping rankings for title fights etc

What exactly defines a casual fan? I always find it funny when people talk about how so and so isn’t a big enough name and that the casual fans wouldn’t know them. Let’s face it apart from Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey there’s not really another fighter that a casual fan would know. They may hear some familiar names but wouldn’t be able to match a face to them.
