Although I rarely get to Geelong, we should have a shiraz together one time. Afterwards, we could continue furiously arguing with each other.
It would be an uproariously funny occasion to get the SRP regulars together for a drink some time. I suspect we would just talk footy and be overly polite to each other :)

For such an admirable thing to happen, I fear you and I will have to do some travelling.

....or some serious shiraz drinking.

Stonehaven near Geelong used to produce some good Pinot, they tell me.
...with a sprinkling of cement dust when the wind was just right.

Gee mate, it's as if we three foresaw that we should keep our distance from each other, given our disparate geography. This is one of the reasons I still get on with my ex-wife. She moved to Ballaarat, and I to Gippsland - 100km in completely opposite directions from Melbourne. Good for our son though. He inherits a house at each location. I occasionally think that's the only reason he has anything to do with either of us.;)

I'm familiar with absurdism - but I never quite got how an acceptance that life might not have meaning might lead to one committing suicide.
does it not depend on your starting point? Who else expounds on Dostoevsky's reasoning that suicide is the logical response to an awareness God does not exist. edit: think I already used Camus as a signature, but that contraverts it.

Seems to me, it is not a logical response, if you were never inculcated with the belief in some deity, or proposed some meaning by perhaps well intentioned parents, adults, pedagogues. If you figure it out on the way, you make yourself the epicentre of meaning(or absurd) and locus of control. It is the suburdination of this to the structures of culture and society that are the catalyst. I tell ya, when you first see Andrew Demetriou nekkid, it aint pretty.

Is this to imply that forbearance on your part has allowed this image to become less disturbing. You worry me sometimes blackcat. At other times, usually when I'm asleep, not so much.

So, if she's able to endure such a vision, so should you? No wonder the prick comes across as self-satisfied. On second thoughts, he probably doesn't get up to too much of that.

Scientists have found that around the time of the Black Sea flooding glaciers melted due to temperature cycle.this flooded 10square miles of water into the Mediterranean a day and continued for AT LEAST 300 days. This created at minimal a very vast salt water inlet and spread into Europe which in turn created mass migration of animals as found by more scientists.

A scientist (who is a devout Christian) has found a reasonable scientific basis for the parting of the red sea as told in the bible. Winds up to 60 mph blown In from the east could of and probably would of separated the red sea of they reached this speed. Computer simulations show a 4km long and 3km wide parting in the red sea that would of been open about 4 hours.

interesting that the mt Sinai of saudi Arabia has a black top and none others in the range do. If this were the mount Sinai that Moses received the ten commandments, is it a coincidence? In the bible it mentions that Mount Sinai came under/in fire from the Lord.

There is nothing particularly remarkable about manganese dioxide deposits.

There's an estimated 200,000,000 tonnes of the stuff in Australia alone.

Computer simulations show a 4km long and 3km wide parting in the red sea that would of been open about 4 hours.
The research was based on a reconstruction of the likely locations and depths of Nile delta waterways, which have shifted considerably over time.

“The simulations match fairly closely with the account in Exodus,” says Carl Drews of NCAR, the lead author. “The parting of the waters can be understood through fluid dynamics. The wind moves the water in a way that’s in accordance with physical laws, creating a safe passage with water on two sides and then abruptly allowing the water to rush back in.”
You call this science?

Got a link for this "theory"?

I thought it was more or less mandatory to at least provide a link to even well accepted science, let alone spurious theologising?
Anyway....a Bishop (who is a Emeritus Professor of Genetics) has found scientific evidence that religious belief is a viral mental illness which is passed on from parents to children and spreads rapidly through schools where already infected families choose to send the off-spring.The virus is most prevalent amongst the poor and uneducated populations of third world countries but has maintained a strong foothold even in the developed world, having been endemic when these countries also exhibited high ratio's of poor and uneducated.
There is evidence the virus has been prevalent since humankind inhabited caves in the rift valleys of southern Europe and Africa but there was an explosion of cases, leading to a Pandemic with the first appearance of the resistant X1AN strain about 2000 years ago in the middle east. The X1AN strain was assisted in it's spread by the establishment of "Carrier Colonies" which arose in the 3rd and 4th centuries, which actively promoted the gathering of whole communities weekly to aid the spread of the virus.

I read that somewhere I think....:D

You know this effectively disproves the bible right? Rather than a miraculous global flood, caused by rainfall, by god to punish mankind we have an explicable regional flood, caused by melting ice, that had everything to do with s changing climate brought about by variations in the earths orbit of the sun and nothing to do with a vengeful god.
