Even the most ardent theist would say such a thing is not possible. If I may quote St Paul writing to those meddlesome Greeks:
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; but then shall I know, even as also I am known.

First rule of Cult Club: Always make the object of devotion as vague as possible!

Always a problem when the object of your veneration is not capable of empirical observation and measurement except through service to the hungry thirsty, the stranger, the sick and the imprisoned

Circle jerk. Deja vu - all over again.
Yes, indeedy. The same claims made by the same people are answered with the same material. If you want something different address the material / arguments and we'll take it from there.

We know you are learned.

Let me ask you three simple questions:

1. Have you ever experienced love?

2. Have you ever been angry?

3. have you ever had a spiritual expereince? ie, a subjective experience of the numinous
Whether I have or haven't experienced any or all of these is irrelevant to the material I have posted. I do not have any knowledge of the supernatural (that is a force or forces beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature), nor does the consideration of supernatural force enter the study of history. If you want to confine your comments to the study of history, then we can discuss that further.

Why doesn't "god" just cut out the middle man and address these issues "him"self?

Why initiate the magnificent awe inspiring complexity of life and then drop the ball here?

Who the **** knows? I am not an evangelical that can channel "It"or speak in tongues.

if Christianity is a way of life rather than a belief predicated on the existence of a God - it would not matter if there was a God or not. The idea of the suffering servant who died and his ideas were resurrected through his followers has some appeal. Does not cut it with me though

Well, given that this thread is titled:

Religion - the God Question

I would have thought that the topic would have its spiritual "dimensions".

Should it merely be confined to historical analysis?

To make it a little more clear: don't both have a place in a topic like this?

I am satisfied to the point where I would not entertain religious dogma or scripture associated with any supernatural being to enter upon my reasoning.

The onus is now back on "god"
Let me ask the question again:

Are you completely, conclusively certain that was the case?

Of course. I'll leave the supernatural arguments to those people that wish to discuss that aspect.

My comments however have been restricted to matters historical. If you wish to address or debate my comments on those, go right ahead.

Okay.

There can be no conclusion, and obviously no end, to any discussion involving (debating) people who argue from science, history or any other empirical discipline, and people who come from a faith perspective.

This thread is therefore a card carrying, proud, passionate, paid up waste of time.

Carry on if you wish.

I'm off to the footy!

Cool.

I'm off to play with the pixies at the bottom of the garden.
