Not sure the dynamics. But I am sure that Gepp is very much Nisbetts man.

Woosh got rid of him; Nisbett brought him back. He's always had a weird role at the club but IMO he's a net negative. I just think he and Nissie need to be pensioned off and we need a fresh direction. But Nisbett has been there longer than anyone, he's tough to shift ...

I doubt Nisbett has much direct involvement in team selection.

Thanks for the info. Interesting that Woosh was able to move him if he is Nisbetts man - say a bit about Woosh's clout I suspect. Agreed about the new direction. It is time for fresh perspective, as much for more youthful energy as anything.

WC won all their pre season games and the first 3 games of the season last year.
Look I'm not anti Simpson. The impact I'm talking about is not purely results based but attitude, consistency and readiness for the contest. Good on us for beating the Bulddogs and St Kilda at home while taking out Melbourne away. Oh then we had another win 4 weeks later when GWS came to Subi. We are the West Coast Eagles beating low level teams is not an achievement its a minimum standard.

Fair enough. Was just pointing out that we may need a larger sample to see if Beverage has made that big of an impact.

Finally decided to get it over with and watch the game
The Good
Nic Nat in the ruck against Sandilands - competed well
Wellingham had one of his best games in Eagles colours
Nelson continues to play hard

The Bad
The First Half
Our run (or lack of it) off the ball to make space when we slowed the game down
Masten had a shocker
Senior West Coast players allowing Freo players to rough up Duggan with impunity. Duggan didn't seem to mind but it showed the wrong mindset to me.

The Ugly
Lycetts effort at marking in the last quarter - wasn't the only time out there today he looked intimidated/out of confidence
The crowd - I can understand that the first quarter killed off the contest, but there was no crowd atmosphere.
The amount of times we handball sideways/backwards and don't create space when we do it
Handballing to a left footer running around to the right, who then had to handball to a right footer running onto their left. Happened at least twice off the top of my head

The thing that pissed me off most about this game occured in the fist 1min and has been the curse of this club since 2007. Chip kicking the footy all around our defensive 50 arc. When it happened I remember turning to my missus and saying game over, because;

1) Not even 1 minute into the game and our backline has no midfield options to kick to through? Can only mean there's no one running to space or mentally our backline knows our mids cant win a one on one clash against their immediate opponent.. Or both. This happens in every game where the opposition plays accountable defensive footy when they dont have possession, we haven't learnt to counter this in the best part of a decade which is why weve beaten top 8 sides about 5 times in 8 years.
2) No run off half back and refusal to take the game on. A couple of guys shuffled forwards a few halting steps, stop prop and dished out to someone in equally as bad a position. Timid shit play and it always ends in a turnover and soft goals. As it did eventually. This is a feature of the very worst shit this club has dished up for years.
3) Masten took one of those posessions, a cheap seagull of chip pass #4 on the boundary near the 50m arc, panic handballs backwards to a stationary target who gets wrapped up immediately. Why is this spud still on our list let alone playing in a crucial position on the ground?

Beveridge has coached a total of 3 AFL games, one of which ended in a 70-point loss. At least wait some time before proclaiming him as a messiah or even a better coach than Simpson. How was Simpson's record after his first 3 games?
Still waiting but not forgotten. twce13 bombard
