McInnes has probably locked up his role as placeholder for Darling, he's been close to invisible in all three games and he wasn't bad today but just really ineffective

Fair call, he did some really nice things but was too quiet for mine for large stretches. To be fair he was robbed of a certain goal in the first five minutes after a terrific mark. I don't have a problem with him in this side, I just can't see how he gets in once JD comes back.McInnes has all the hallmarks of a late bloomer to me, he looks like he is 19 and seems a shyer type on the ground. He's 22 about round 16 I think. If he can do/show enough to still be playing AFL footy when he is 25 I think he will be a dominant forward. Some of his kicks i50 today were high quality.
Didn't watch the game live so here's my take having just seen it.
Bad:
Not to derail the thread, although I'm sure it's been mentioned before, Priddis' second quarter was really tough to watch. A few very poor visible errors, but I'm sure it's all been said before so I'll leave it there.
Letting an objectively bad football team into the contest when it should have been flat track bully time was a bit disappointing, they let the physicality throw them off which I haven't seen from the team this year

Hurn was pretty quiet after a huge start, defended very well towards the end but didn't look to establish him as a rebound option in the last three quarters. I watched the game in a pretty noisy room so he may have had a knock that they mentioned and I didn't pick it up, just odd to see him go into such a lockdown role when he was so damaging early
Always thought he looked essence of vanilla, and never got the love affair with him. I guess he fits with the change for change sake mindset here. Looking forward to the moans in a few years about why Nelson is getting a game when we could be pumping games into a youngster. He could and probably will be a handy player for years to come, but nothing special.Thought he was pretty ordinary actually. I don't understand the hype on here about him. Not saying he won't be a useful player, just not seeing overly much atm.

I rub one out during each of his press conferencesNot sure if it's good, bad, ugly or all three but Simmo always looks like he's rubbing one out in his post game press conferences
Would need to rate him as his own player, not as a component in a draft year. As a player, his main attribute seems to be he is competitive, but I cannot think of anything he seems particularly good at, although to be fair, he doesn't seem particularly bad at anything either. He may be the anti Priddis. Duggan is the goods. Haven't really seen Cavka or Waterman. Lamb I find exciting and worrying in equal measure. Concerned he may be just a tease. Prospects for the 2014 draft are great, but they are just prospects, it hasn't actually done much yet. Anyway, wrong thread for it.Don't most rate him as the 5th best prospect we picked up last year (behind Duggan, Cavka, Lamb and Waterman).
In which case "handy" means we should be excited by the 2014 draft.
The main downside I see with Nelson atm is that he looks distinctly like Adam Selwood from behind.
Well, I look for negatives with Jen Hawkins.Nelson is good off both feet, solid defensively and has a good head on his shoulders. Yet people are looking for the negatives?
There are about 14000 posts on the negatives of 1 player, so I query your surprise, besides, I do not see negatives, just an absence of standout positives, and they may come as he is young (which may be the standout positive).Nelson is good off both feet, solid defensively and has a good head on his shoulders. The standout positive for me is his overall solidarity. He has done his job with minimum fuss and is to be commended on that fact for a 1st year player. There are about 14000 posts on the negatives of 1 player, so I query your surprise, besides, I do not see negatives, just an absence of standout positives, and they may come as he is young (which may be the standout positive).

Why are we defending an 18 yr old defender who doesn't make a mistake. The recruits of the past two years are why are why we are secondIn Nelsons defence, I remember questioning LeCras' lack of standout qualities in the first year or two of his career and I don't think anyone strongly disagreed with me at the time.

True, Dylan Main has certainly done his part.
