Adelaide's biggest race day is on this Sunday at Morphettville and has on offer two races filled with history.
The Goodwood
This is in some way a weaker version of the Goodwood with the major sprint stars staying at home or retired such as the champion Takeover Target who took this race last year. Very open race with the Mark Kavanagh trained Catapulted a deserved clear favourite at 3.60 after a strong win the Group 3 DC Mackay on the 17th of April ahead of Blahnik(51.00) who finished 9th and will also contest this race. While 3 other Victorian runners also head the market in Velocitea (6.00), Rostova (8.00) and Captain Coltish (9.50) while the rest are in double digit territory with consistent sprinter Beltrois, first up specialist Huxssen and backmarker Perturbo.
Prediction: Perturbo to sweep from the outside after some flashing performances at Saturday races here in Melbourne.
SA Derby
South Australia's premier 3yo race. The Victorian presence is felt here also four Victorians at the head of the market with Victoria Derby runner-up Extra Zero (6.50), Snowden trained Kidnapped (drift to 5.50), Greg Eurell trained Red Colossus (4.60) and the rock solid Second King (6.50). Others are all double figures but Tenzing (26.00 to 19.00) is getting some backing from the punters.
But it looks like after taking out the W.A.T.C Derby as a state last week with the David Hayes trained Chartruex, the Victorians look a class above here and one of the four Victorian runners at the top of the market should take this out.
Prediction: Two progressive wins at Listed level at 1800 and 2014m and with more improvement expected over this distance, Red Colossus will be the choice of the four but any four of the market leaders can take this out and yes, sympathy for Greg Eurell who got star sprinter Mic Mac taken away from him after being transferred to another stable might of played a role in this selection.
Correct Weight Racing and resident tipster The Advisor will be covering Saturday and also Sunday's Racing this weekend and watch for the coverage on the three big days of the Warnambool carnival next week.
