For some reason I decided to watch Robin Hood: Men in Tights for the first time since I was very very young.

It's rather horrid.
But funny horrid

Go for Star Trek if you were a TOS fan. I think it's a more genuine effort than Abrams' two films, and I really like Pine as Kirk. Yes there are some 2010's style set pieces but overall it's on that Undiscovered Country tier IMO.

Star Trek was mostly yawnworthy. Had a couple of fat, middle aged nerds across the aisle that seemed to find every cringeworthy chum chum one liner between the crew members absolutely ******* uproariously hilarious which in turn made me chuckle. I get the feeling it was probably still better than Bourne if only for the sci fi spaceship stuff.

I've watched a fair few movies over the last few months, and even though the Academy Awards are a lot like the All-Australian, I've picked up on a few winners that I just really disagree with.

Michael Caine in The Cider House Rules. He was very unremarkable; he brought nothing to the role that any other competent actor could have, and his American accent was terrible.

Lupita Nyong'o in 12 Years a Slave. A really good film, and she was pretty good. But she's barely in it! She has maybe a few scenes of dialogue in a film that goes for about 2 and a half hours.

If you think those are the most glaringly bad choices DO NOT DELVE DEEPER

But yeah, don't agree with either - you open a rabbit hole when you look at all eligible performances, but in '99 almost the whole field is better than Caine - personally I give it to Tom Cruise even though I'm not a huge fan of Magnolia on the whole.

In 2013 I give it to Julia Roberts. Perhaps it's because there's so much in that performance I've seen happen in real life in some way shape or form. It's a top-notch turn in an underrated film.

I watched the new Captain America film last Saturday night after finally convincing wifey we hadn't seen it only to fall asleep half way through. Man that seemed like a long film.

Can't go with you there - watched it last night and was staggered at how much of a clip it moves at.

I rewatched casino the other day for about the 35th time. There's always been this one scene that takes me out of it.

WTF is with the way Robert De niro tried to break down the bedroom door? He looks so *ed.
