That and we cant play spin and are still yet to adapt to the t20 form of the game
It's not that, we're actually pretty good at it. The fact is that we've lost Starc, Johnson and Cummins from our T20 side, all of whom would probably be starters (maybe NCN ahead of one of them). That killed our chances.

do you reckon we even take the format seriously? It seems like we have been last to the party

We seemed to warm into it pretty well against South Africa.

It was almost like initially we thought it wouldn't be a format that'd last in the international arena so we didn't take it seriously. We've played catch up for a while but I'd say we're ok now.

i stumbled upon a new gambling strategy...

you bet on say the rising star - long odds guys like Daniel howe, Laverde, Steele, the $26 types.... then half way through the year when the betting agency has shat themselves over what they are up for offer you a decent cash out

take the profit before Weitering goes onto win.

i like this.

Just need to make sure the guy(s) you put money on play, and play well. That and they don't get injured.

Raiders only -4 against the Knights? Newcastle are putrid and playing youth over experience. Canberra have been more than solid to start the season. Home ground advantage shouldn't be worth that much to a side as poor as Newcastle so I reckon I'll have a nibble at Canberra -4

Was looking good for a while

cant believe im saying this but i think i like Catlron this week, if not outright, at the line.

these tiger injuries are mounting, they have been known to shit themselves on the first thursday too... plus i think Carlton have been heavily restriced of the nab with their rotations while others have been free wheeling. I know they will be horrible this year but i dont mind them to jump the tigers here

So from their best team is it Deledio, Grigg, Edwards. I'm not including Yarran as he's never played for them and Conca is just a foot soldier. Am I missing anyone?

It's a lot of run they're missing but I still think Richmond will be too good but taking them at the 1 - 39 margin @ $2.20 isn't a bad bet I wouldn't have thought.

Actually anyone know what Martin's frame of mind is like given his old man is up for deportation?

Richmond will put a side out something like:

Grimes - Rance - Batchelor
Vlaustin - Astbury/Chaplin - Houli
B Ellis - Miles - McIntosh
Martin - Griffiths - Lambert
Lennon - Riewoldt - Vickery
Maric - Cotchin - Miles
Hunt - C Ellis - Markov - Marcon

That midfield depth will be too strong for Carlton.

To be honest, I think your best bet is Carlton leading at 1/4 time. I can see Richmond coming out a bit flat and Carlton will probably end up being smashed by full time - the final margin being way too unpredictable. Sportsbet have Carlton $2.70 to lead at 1/4 time which I think is probably too short to be worth it but I think it's a decent chance.

having a bit of trouble tipping round one...

outside of the favorites a couple of games jump out at me,

Syd 1.60 v Coll 2.35

Collingwood usually travel pretty well and start seasons well, they were flying pre season too, im not 100% sold on sydney this year

Melb 2.25 v GWS 1.63

Melbourne also played well pre season, are they really stepping up? No jezza at GWS.. probably more of a line bet here but 7.5 not reall enough.

who could pick dogs v freo? real roll of the dice. not sure who wins

Speaking of sports bet, seen their new punters club option?

Could be a good way for a handful (4?) Of us to jump into a little punt club? $5 a week each, $20 each week for the punter

No messy cash transactions, all done on their site and divvied up each week

I'm having enough trouble breaking even on my own at this point, let alone being responsible for losing other people's money.

Ask me again after 6 or 7 rounds of footy season and I might change my tune depending on how the season is going. It's been a long off season and I need to regain some confidence.

all good!

unless the winner keeps the strike, you could hang off some one elses coat tails!

just got a bonus bet $10

put it on a sneaky one

carlton to lead at qtr time into Gaff to have 35+ppossessions v Bris... pays $16! $162 would be a nice free start to the year.

The longer the week has gone on, the more I'm thinking of taking tonight off from the punt. Richmond's depth will be tested against an unknown quantity.

Having said that and knowing me, I'll probably end up placing something 5 minutes before the bounce to have some sort of interest in the game given there will be stuff all else to watch on TV.
