You talking about how the AFL media and fans talk about concussion?

I thought making a post about Tippet the other day, in that, while it's worrying that he's facing more than one week out, it's a step in the right direction in that you look at the NHL, you look at the NFL, they ain't one week injuries over there, they're the headline story from the game. There's just no way every single player who has had a concussion in the AFL over the past 10 years has been right to play before he has. I refuse to believe it's possible given what we've seen with Crosby and others (the offer sheet all but confirmed Pronger's done). and i'm not faulting the doctors, because no doubt players have hid stuff in a bid to get back out on the park. hopefully the Tippet saga (and scott stevens) will lead to a change in attitude from players and fans and that concussion isn't just a headache and an one week injury. It's very very serious and even more so if you rush your return because you feel sitting out more than a week makes you a princess

I think I've said it before, but last year in the England-India series Gautam Gambhir smashed his head on the ground while trying to take a catch and was concussed and man some of the stuff said by the commentators, including one SK Warne, journalists, the English fans and Indian fans was horrifying. I'm not a fan of the bloke, but to see him called weak for not coming out to open was disgusting. Worst still he wasn't banned from batting, no no, he came out to bat at 8 where of course he was awful and could barely do anything and was probably lucky not to cope a bouncer in the head. It was horrible from the Indian doctors and captain to allow him to bat. Sure enough he missed the OD matches 2-3 weeks later...and this was a mild concussion

I'm talking about both. They always refer to NFL players suffering repercussions caused from concussions, but they never look at the way it's treated in the NHL. If you only have a mild concussion it's treated very seriously. They rushed back Crosby several times and it led to worse results. I believe they just recently fired their medical staff too. The Australian media and public are only realising in the past year how serious a concussion is, which is amazing considering it's arguably the toughest sport on the planet.

This is what Pronger's wife said about what he's going through:

"It's a tough go at home. We're going day-to-day right now -- good days, bad days," she said. "It's been a lot of trauma going on. We're just praying right now. He's battling. He wants to be out there more than anybody. It's tough for all of us to watch him go through this."

Now, that's pretty dramatic. Although, he has a much more serious than most, but that says a lot. Like you said, commentators perceive someone as weak because they're not willing to play through that.

I'm not a doctor, but I think it would be wise to shut down Tippett. Three concussions in four games is outrageous and could potentially lead to future damage.

Damn, didn't know a thread for this fine sport existed. Has anyone purchased the replica Stanley Cup & puck from the LA Kings site? I'm considering it.
Quick is what Fletcher is to Essendon : GOD
