Scrolled past that one last night and my first thought was about how bad those real life haunted house shows are with their fake psychics and paranormal detectors, shit daunting music, and hand held cameras in dim-lit rundown corridors and immediately went ‘nope’. Convince me that it is several levels above that crap and I might give it a go 😂
So far BT I’ve come across nothing like that in this series. It is dramatised as they have to use reenactments to describe how the person/s were impacted, how they felt and they do talk to all who witnessed events. At least in the first story as I’m only on to episode 3. Only 30m eps.

I know about the shows you talk about and I’m no fan of those at all like a few amateur YT vids on haunted castles I watched earlier this year and most just talk about the paranormal activity that occurs. All the gear set up but nothing happens.

I think you will like this one.

Celebrity Traitors UK on ch10 catchup gets semi-interesting. Episode 1 starts a bit slow but the series builds up to a pretty good finish. All over in 9 episodes so you don’t have to commit huge chunks of your life to it. All the contestants seem to be genuine celebrities…I think they got Stephen Fry in which made other proper celebs (not instagram influencers) join up.

All Her Fault
Sarah Snook

8 part series filmed mostly in Melbourne but story set in Chicago.
Follows wealthy finance couple who discover their son Milo is missing when Mum (Snook) goes to pick him up after work from a babysitter and the woman at the house says I don’t know who Milo is…

There are twists and turns in this story and I enjoyed watching this series and Sarah Snook’s acting. Based on a book.

So, I’ve finally got around to watching Shogun. Holy shit! Top ten all-timer for me and quite possibly pushing for the best TV series I’ve seen. It’s a work of art. Powerful, scenically stunning, and brilliantly acted - Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai in particular give real poise to their performances and draw you in to the cultural chasm between Japan and the West. I went into it thinking it will just be another mediocre period piece that has major flaws that are glossed over by other heavily favoured facets of screenplay but this has been meticulously crafted in every detail. I’m currently six episodes into the ten so I don’t know if the ending does it justice but I’m confident enough in my judging it to this point because it’s that ****ing good.

The Beast In Me
Claire Danes

8 part series psych thriller.
Danes plays author Aggie struggling to find the motivation to write her next book. What looks like writer’s block seems to be more apathy and grief resulting from personal loss.

A wealthy new neighbour with a past moves in next door who suddenly becomes the subject for her next book and finds herself trying to solve a mystery involving his first wife. Suspenseful, good thriller. I enjoyed it.

Am thinking of this being my next watch. I have read that Danes’ pained face gets a bit overdone but I don’t mind her acting for the most part.

I’ve watched it, it’s quite good.

But yes, the constantly frazzled and frantic Danes gets a bit much.
