Some people are just natural defenders and not suited to the forward line in the AFL. He is one of them. He reads the ball very well.

He was out by himself a lot from what I saw, chasing possessions. That's modern footy, I know. But I didnt see anything more than what I would see if i went down to watch the wafl on the weekend. He's too small to take a contested mark. He's got average speed. He's just average. He famed "mongrel" attitude or cockiness doesnt strike me as anything that might transfer into leadership qualities a la toby green. I just see average. If he was 196cm, I'd be impressed.

I admit that he is at least getting a kick at the lower level. His efforts at AFL indicated nothing much, and I accept that we dont give kids enough time to settle in.

He's not unlike Rantall or Ginnevan from yesterday. In a winning team, getting possessions. Doing ok but not showing anything outstanding.

Listen, theres a lot of richmond players who look average but they get the job done when the pressure is on. We dont know that with Ruscoe at the moment. Is he going to be another tom stewart? pfff... He's got a long long long way to go. They could kick him off the list tomorrow and me and his mum wouldnt be surprised.

other than that, I cant see why you would consider trading de goey for anything other than football related stuff and the price he is putting on himself.

If he wants big money then tell him to f off.

Can we move on from the notion that DeGoey will be entertained in any trade. He isn't going anywhere, and the club would be out of its mind to trade him at this stage of his career. He will basically be the focal point of our midfield for the coming years.
Why do supporters think the club would even entertain trading him???

To me its a money thing. We have salary cap problems. If he plays for 500K then you sign him for 6 years. If he wants a million then try to find a deal to get top ten draft picks. I dont understand why supporters would beg the club to retain players who want big money. If they want big money, tie the contract to winning norm smith medals....

well we know you. I've never been a fan of arrogant prick alpha-males like de goey. However, they can be useful winning a premiership... wayne carey being a prime example.

And when it comes to decisions on players, winning a premiership is the only criteria AFAIC..... do we use that one? as far as i'm concerned

I don't think there is any question about that. If he is guilty he wont have a career left in AFL footy, as it should be. He won't be able to be traded. We will get nothing for him.

Callum Brown signed on for 2 years in 2020 at same time as Tyler and Murphy. They are all locked in for next season.

Unless he found a trade he will be on the list in 22. With the cap tight we would not be in a position to sack him and pay him out.

I think he would be deregistered by the AFL and contract likely voided. Wouldn't count in our cap I assume. We would lose him but regain cap space and one plce on the list. Thats what i believe but am not 100%

I would imagine that's a certainty - no club can allow themselves to be exposed to that sort of liability.

One thing you can be certain about jmac is there will be no pay out to him. He will have voided his contract by his conviction.

It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. I've not heard any details around the allegations so it's hard to get a read on the situation.

DeGoey and his legal team must be pretty confident that he may get off the charge or have it downgraded, if they are determined to contest it in court, and refuse the police summary of details regarding the incident, which will be outlined to the court.
