The Heatwave

The day went by without a sweat in the cool of my home today.

Have footy training tomorrow, though. Barely survived through last Monday's, so can't say I'm looking forward to it.

Good old Melbourne weather. 38 out near Craigeburn at 2pm then the wind shifted and it dropped to 28 at 3pm. Wind spun again and it went back to 36 around 6pm.

Aaaand at exactly 10.30pm the power is gone. (And no we do not have an air conditioner).

I wish i could fast forward the week too, to the weekend (where the Geelong FC will be having a Family Day at a Water Park ) as well like someone else said previously.

I had an idea today... I'm sure you've seen those foil reflector sheets that you buy for your car to keep the dashboard cool. Well I bought 18 of them today and put them over all the windows in my house. I could feel them stopping the heat coming through as I put them up. It was 38 degrees outside and a pleasant 22 degrees inside.

Total cost @ $2.50 each = $45.00. A small price to pay and I can use them over and over.

Haven't worked out a solution to stop heat getting in through the skylight in the hallway yet but I am not going to complain.

I agree it wasn't that bad in Melbourne today, it was hot but tolerable. And I was in Bega a few weeks ago it was 43 and like an oven but you could put up with it easy enough.

Only 2 rooms face the street but they are not as bright as you might think. You can even get red ones and yellow ones nowaday's and they're not quite as bright.

I am Carer for my elderly mother so I'll be looking after her in this heat making sure she drinks plenty of water and eats. We have A/C so the house will be cool, I try and keep all the interior doors open so the whole house cools along with ceiling fans and strategically placed up right fans as well. Yesterday I went inside to find the kitchen door shut so asked dear old mum why? She said she was trying to keep the kitchen lounge area cool, then I noticed the ceiling fan in the lounge was off and asked why? She then said it was too cold.... I had to laugh, ya just gotta love dementia....

We have to field on Saturday (defending 338 thank god), then have our annual Cocktail night on Saturday night...then....have to travel 40kms for an 11 am start Sunday morning for the semi final of the T20 comp. If we win, we play the final later that day.
