heard a BOM employee on ABC radio today who said the 43 for Melbourne is a conservative estimate and the fire conditions will be some of the worst the state has ever seen.

So looks like the hottest February day in recorded history.

I heard 2 BOM employees on radio in recent days and they both stressed how the original 43C forecast was very conservative and how it could well hit mid to high 40s. Guess they were right
