Preview The Home Ground Factor in Finals is hugely overrated

You’re comparing 16 win seasons from a single decade to almost 2 decades worth of seasons.

In the two decades since the 90’s, there hasn’t been close to double the number of 16 win seasons.

The competitiveness of the league seems to have increased then by your logic.
No it was your good self who commented that the 10s only had 1 less Melbourne team win 16+ games than the 90s.

But you fail to grasp that the expansion and introduction of new teams in the 10s has imbalanced the league and unlike the 90s when 19 teams won 16+ games or 00s when 20 teams did it that there already has been 29 teams do it in the 10s.

So unsurprisingly for you, once more you fail to apply any context to your thinking and a comment that the 10s Melbourne teams is only 1 less than the 90s actually is a big reduction considering the overall increase of 10s decade.

And funny that Hawthorn, who sell 4 games and end up travelling 8-9 times per year are the only Melbourne team who has regularly been able to do it...almost as if travel isn’t really a big factor if you have a home ground advantage!!

Since ground rationalisation concluded with the introduction of Etihad stadium, Melbourne teams now battle to win 16 games in a season and finish at the top end of the ladder. Non-Melbourne teams do it regularly.

Teams that kept their home ground advantage now are at an advantage...it ain’t hard to follow, if you believe in home ground advantage it makes logical sense.

Didn’t you say it was 19 seasons in the 90’s v 29 since 2000?

Maybe you should get your facts straight.

How many non Victorian sides have made it to the top of the ladder that didn’t deserve to be there in your opinion?

Making up hypotheticals and saying ‘isn’t it funny’ doesn’t support anything.

Have you considered that the reason some Melbourne clubs have struggled to have successful seasons is because they just aren’t as good?

Mind blowing.

No posted each decade

90s

10s

Unsurprisingly you decide to comment that 90s is only one less than 10s without comprehension of the overall change that expansion had.

Pretty normal for you to post without any understanding of what you are talking about though.

Melbourne clubs were able to win 16+ games in the 90s, despite some powerhouse teams like the Eagles, Crows and Geelong kicking about.

But post 2000, Melbourne teams (apart from Hawthorn who travel 8-9 times a year) have battled.

Almost as if there was a change in 2000 that negatively impacted just the Melbourne clubs!

Have you ever considered that you not understanding the history of the VFL, what Melbourne ground rationalisation actually involved, may be a stumbling block when talking about Melbourne teams.

You also appear to battle to understand home ground advantage. It isn’t surprising that if you take away home ground advantage from half the teams in the league that they will find it tougher to compete with those who retained it...which is what has happened.
