Here is a thread where you can post motorsport crashes and wonder how the driver survived.
I get started with this crash from a practice session in a Brazilian Truck race

That one is crazy. You see the first crash and think 'what's so bad about that?' then it suddenly and it's a bloody action movie scene.

i saw a similar blower backfire in charlotte earlier this year (that apparently got some news coverage over here) that i could feel sitting at almost the other end of the track.

hard to imagine what it must feel like sitting a metre or 2 away from the explosion.

Like Mansell's blown tyre, it's one of better known motorsport footage.

Amazing how Niki's giving the yet a few days later had the " last-rites " read to him
Almost as amazing as when he jumped back in the car a few weeks later

EDIT - Just on this , Ron Howard is currently making " RUSH " about Niki Lauda and James Hunt ( Hunt played by Chris " THOR " Hemsworth.
Due out next year
