Because your team didn't pick up Chris Scott, so we did instead.
scott inherited a great list and well run club with plenty of resources.
If we picked him we would have probably gone worse than we did with our list and he would have been sacked long before Primus was as he was an outsider.
People still love Primus although he had no luck as Coach.Chris Scott would would have been the new Matty Knights to Port people.

As far as anti-poaching goes is there anything to stop Port making an announcement if Cameron is the successful candidate and he has agreed terms?

Looking at an AFL article from only a month ago it appears there are no anti-poaching rules in place nor will there be until the end of next season and they do not apply to assistant coaches taking on a senior job. The only situation might be that the coach completes his duties at his current club but is entitled to interview for a senior job.

Assistant coach poaching rule

Club chief executives were presented with several models that would enable assistant coaches to pursue senior coaching opportunities, while completing their obligations to their current employer.

...

Frawley said that no timeframe had been mooted for the protocols to be agreed to by the clubs and that in any event, they wouldn't take effect until the end of next season.

...

According to Frawley, a key recommendation from the steering committee is that "clubs in the finals aren't impacted by the fact that one of their assistants is going for a senior job."

But at the same time, he added: "clubs in the finals don't hinder the aspirations of any assistants going for senior coaching positions."

I reckon we will wait out of courtesy for both Leon and the hawks.
Agree. If he's agreed and signed a week isn't going to change anything. He's probably briefed on any immediate issues needing his input and this way he still has a week to piss into the ear of any uncontracted hawks.

That's fair enough but there seems to have been a lot said in the media *cough*Rucci*cough* about us having to tip-toe around anti-poaching rules that apparently do not exist.

Also if he has agreed terms then his commitment is now to Port Adelaide.

Where was Clarkson an assistant coach prior to winning a senior coach job?
Which club appointed him senior coach?
When did they do it?
What is your favourite colour?
Yep..........tick to each but is it 'beyond reasonable doubt' he would/might consider it?;)

More than happy to have him on board.

You do know that now you have pointed out his mistake he will be back pedalling at such a furious rate that he will forget to acknowledge his initial error.

And anoint Cameron/Eade/Ratten/Bickley/McGuire or whoever gets the job because he will be right.

No I meant Hawthorn appointed one of our assistant coaches and named him before the 2004 grand final so he stood aside leaving us short on the big day.

I'm not suggesting we get Clarko.

I really need to be clearer.

He will just attack us for not having the gumption to get the obvious choice barrow he has been pushing - Rodney Eade.

I am constantly checking this thread. I get excited when I see it bolded, even though I know in my head it's probably another Terry Wallace joke.
Terry Wallace was no joke, he was at the airport and prince of Wales, I just lied about rucci being there
