I think you guys are being a bit harsh on Ratten. He took over a basket case. He got them into the finals. He has had a shit year this year, however injuries have taken their toll. If it wasn't for Malthouses availability he would still be coaching. Yes he hasn't won a flag, but that hardly makes him a failure especially when some of you want Eade.

Feel free to tell me to piss off and mind my own business. :)
And how would he have gone without all those picks gifted to him - Kreuzer, Judd, Murphy, Walker, Gibbs..

Pagan took over a basketcase.

Ratten took over a young side on the improve and with the arrival of a star player in Judd. Plus they had Fevola who despite his off field B/S had played almost 150 games and kicked almost 400 goals and was in the prime of his career.

You are right about injuries, Malthouse and harshness.

Fair enough, but he took that young side up the ladder until this year. I'm not saying he is a gun coach but what gun coaches are available besides Malthhouse?

Honestly, I'm yet to her why he's a good coach either in the media or on here. His ******* shithouse record speaks for itself and it would be the completely wrong call to give the job to him especially if Eade is available. All I hear are excuses being made for Ratten but sorry, he is shit even the Carlton faithful weren't even all sold on him for ****s sake, why would we want their dreggs.

If Eade is available and wants the job the job will be his. Don't worry about this media generated Ratten2Port hype. If Ratten wants to stay in coaching he'll have to take an assistant job somewhere because he won't be coaching at Port next season.

No, we do not want a coach that Carlton has deemed not good enough for them to progress with.

Yes he hasn't won a flag, but that hardly makes him a failure especially when some of you want Eade.
You are merely setting up future trolling opportunities against us by sticking the knife into Eade prior to any appointment being made.

This opportunism by crowbots is almost as pathetic as you Bigfooty crowbot supporters.

Feel free to tell me to piss off and mind my own business. :)
I need no prompting to get into a well known injury troll & all round Port hater.

My money is on eade as head coach, and Bassett being added to the group. No succession plan, just as an assistant. Possibly as defence coach with gotch moving into development.

We need 2 new coaches but we won't get an assistant elsewhere to leave and be an assistant with us. The assistant post has to be a credible fresh face.

That's where bassett should be option 1

Would you take him? Be honest.
No but I also wouldn't take Eade, I'm merely pointing out he isn't as bad as you all make out. Eade has left the Bulldogs a mess. Eade was not wanted by the Bulldogs as Ratten was not wanted by Carlton. Eade is a relic and I wonder how he will relate to your younger players. I would have spewed if we chose him last year. If Burns is ready I would choose him. He would be just as hard as Eade and I dare say garnish more respect.

And AG this has nothing to do with trolling, I'll save that for the Bay.

It has everything to do with trolling.

You are setting up future trolls secure in the knowledge that we are likely to take an experienced coach, ala Eade, & not gamble with someone new, ala Burns.

Your future trolls will trumpet on how right you were and how wrong we got it ............. again. .......... if things **** up in the coming years.

OR

Your future trolls will trumpet on how right you were and how lucky we were in following your advice in employing Burns, if we do so & things go well.

Bigfooty crowbots like you are transparent & pathetic.

Check out Patrick Smith's article on Brett Ratten in the Australian today

Here is the last paragraph

If Port Adelaide does not appoint Ratten coach for 2013, then it is proof the South Australian club is very much the ratbag organisation we all think it is.

Parkin's comments are what I referred to earlier in this thread. I expect Parkin will advise the Coach Selection Panel that a Eade-Ratten team is the way to go.
While I'd certainly prefer a Burns/Eade or Burns/Bassett combo, an Eade/Ratten team wouldn't be that bad.

Re Ratten as head coach - in the history of the AFL, has a sacked coach ever walked into another head coach job the next year?

I cant think of one but I must admit a I do suffer senility at times.
