Our favourite pessimist/former optimist Bob once said Jansen would play 200 games.
We should probs just give him the win now cause it's a dead set certainty... :thumbsu:

Poor guy's never going to live that one down.

I thought after watching 20 minutes of his first VFL game Lincoln McCarthy will be a star. He's well on his way to proving me right. :)

He was insanely courageous but he couldn't kick
Correct but the role he was playing he needed to be able to kick... and he was awful at it

By the time Rivers was recruited Brown was being tried as a third defender. We tend to overhype Rivers on here in retrospect I think, he was solid enough but not as good a lockdown as Lonergan, nor as good a creative defender as Taylor.
He came 6th in the GFC B&F in 2014,only 4 votes off 3rd place

Mine:

- I thought we were a chance, late in the third quarter in the 2007 Grand Final
- Always knew Murdoch was rubbish
- Thought we might not miss Ablett Jnr too much
- Thought Menzel would eventually make it back

- Knew Menzel would make a comeback
- Tipped Joel Selwood to win the rising star half way through his fourth game, even told my old man he'd be a future Brownlow winner, I might still be right.
- Thought we'd get all 4 of our trade targets last off season
- Thought we'd lose the 2013 final vs Freo at home because of that crap the addy had on the front page

It was a late call but in the 4Q during our demolition of the Demons at home in 2011 I turned to my mate and said we are beating Collingwood in the GF this year.

Jarrad Jansen is a 192cm/94kg, 20 year old midfielder who is now into his third year as an AFL listed footballer. I am on record saying this will be a long term scenario.
At no point did I expect to see him a regular starter at this early stage of his career. If anything, you need to be making fun of me for suggesting he would play 10-13 games this year! But even that's not yet known as he may get a run in the coming week or two.

He's not getting in the best players of a Brisbane reserves team that is getting thumped week-in, week-out. As a strong-bodied youngster, that's a concern - it's typically the strong-bodied midfielders who make the most immediate impact at AFL level (Viney, Wines, Oliver).

And he is already being outperformed by younger midfielders. I'm pretty confident that he won't play a single game at AFL level.

Well, if we're going to have an I Was Wrong thread, it's only right that we have a spot for some excellent gloating. Step right this way, gc_26, I await your contributions...

I displayed my prescient, unique qualities of foresight that were Definitely Not Just Luck when I said that...
- Trent West was too small to be an AFL-standard ruckman
- Jared Rivers would wind up taking development games off Mitch Brown without ever playing really good football
- The one thing that would stand between StKilda and a flag would be Ross Lyon's refusal to play attacking footy with an outstanding forward line
- Tom Hawkins needed about 80 games to come good. (That Grand Final was game 79, so ok, I wasn't *quite* correct)
- Geelong should have stuck with Bomber past 2006
- Paul Chapman was never going to play well in the second year of his final contract...

... what did you get unerringly, gloatingly right?
If you're gonna brag, don't lie. Rivers played excellent footy. And brown has done nothing at Essendon to suggest we should have kept him.
