The I Was Right thread

I knew it was a bad idea to go on the Hawthorn board and read their filth and dribble, you'd think they'd won 3 flags in a row:thumbsdown:

And he is already being outperformed by younger midfielders. I'm pretty confident that he won't play a single game at AFL level.
So why did WE draft him?

So why did WE draft him?
Well we wanted one of those big bodied mids that was in fashion at the time and he was name that was still available at our pick(quite a few similar types had already been taken). Not every player develops in the way you want them to.
In his draft year, and I say this based mainly on third hand information more than anything I saw with my own eyes, there was some thought that Jansen was similar in style to his East Fremantle stablemate Patrick Cripps.

sheringham, stringer, burbury
vfl standard players that at no time i thought they would be decent

dawson simpson
at no stage was dawson simpson the answer to our ruck, the level hype after he strung two good game in 2013 was quiziccal

ghs

sam blease

I have similar unreliable third hand information (can't remember the source) that who we really wanted was Nick Robinson, another one of those 193cm midfielders who went at pick 34 to Brisbane

Guthrie would be a top mid. He almost is.

Blicavs would just keep getting better in a scary cyborg kind of way. (They put him in the backline a while back. Week one he wasn't much chop. By week 4 he was just about our best defender. That is weird.)

That Hawkins in the ruck is insane.

I'm pretty sure we didn't lose because of a newspaper article. ;)
Hmm, I have a strong sense you're trolling or maybe you didn't read the title of the thread, but it's called the 'I was right' thread. I sensed we would lose the game when I saw that article, I did not say that article caused us the lose the game.

I was right.

It was a joke because of your wording... the wink, man, the wink.

"- Thought we'd lose the 2013 final vs Freo at home because of that crap the addy had on the front page"

Brown being a spud....Got that one right, confirmed Kipfler.

How on earth did he get 6 years with us. VFL footballer.

For every injury a player receives, the club offers them an additional year on the list

So Cowan as we speak is trying to get hit by a car :P

Jarrad Jansen is a 192cm/94kg, 20 year old midfielder who is now into his third year as an AFL listed footballer. I am on record saying this will be a long term scenario.
At no point did I expect to see him a regular starter at this early stage of his career. If anything, you need to be making fun of me for suggesting he would play 10-13 games this year! But even that's not yet known as he may get a run in the coming week or two.

I do not think he was a big loss, but we cannot also write him off yet.

I hope he forges himself a nice career up there and does well for himself, the same with Dean Gore and so on.

Not everyone can make it at their first club or first go.

Joint entry for me and Bobby_
Langford is a spud. Take the stars away and he's exposed.

Couldn't agree more. Always thought it was suss back in 2014 when he got dropped back midway through the year, only to come back 6 weeks later and dominate for 8 weeks, only to return to spud status 6 months later.

Thought it was suss that he played well against us in 2014. Knowing he was a potato.

Hawthorn are finished for this year. I was right about that. First time Richmond has played flat out to win this season, and for 3 quarters looked the better side. Only lack of fitness had the Hawks running over the top of them.
