First it was Rod Butters who ripped the heart out of our club by sacking GT. Then it was RL who implemented a defensive game plan that turned the highest scoring, free flowing team into the lowest scoring team within 12 months. Now RL has completed the Implosion by dropping Dal. Next season we are headed for 6 wins maximum and a bottom 4 spot on the ladder.

Kildonan, please make this a sticky so we can refer back to this post in 14 months!!!!

Thank you.

NeXus Helen.

You're the one that thinks we're going nowhere and wants a re-build.

Wouldn't dropping Dal Santo help your cause and get us lower picks (assuming his loss means we lose).

And re next year, I would think the higher the picks we get the better we will be next year.... As drafting is an exact science obviously.

Stup!d thread!

Can only agree...as much as I hate it!

The selection and the results over the past few weeks talks about a team that has gone into a tail spin!!!! At this point of the season playing a bottom team -why on earth would you bring in 3 newbies!!!

This is the panic button - the coach and panel is saying we have no structrured plans for the rest of the year - we are just gunna drop a couple of high profile names, chuck a few kids in, and see what happens!!!

Even if we win....this just smacks of the defensive stuff didn't work, lets just hope for pure luck!!! Looks to me like a management team that has run out of ideas, rather than a "hard" line with players! But we live in hope -maybe it is a kick up the bottom they need!

Well said!!!!!

We are still getting 100+ kicked against us.

If Milne and Dal Santo don't drop back in defence and are just watching while the opposition boots home goal after goal then drop them.

I still trust Rossy.

Drama queens

Ross Lyon is simply telling the players that no-one is beyond being dropped.

No point in making such a statement without teeth - hence actually dropping Dal is the way to go. He may not deserve it, but he is capable of bringing more to the matches - so goodonya Ross :thumbsu:

It takes a lot of guts to drop someone as good as Dal Santo, and it is a hell of a gamble being on the national stage - on Friday night football.

It could backfire and be disastrous, or it could be the slap St Kilda needed to get this season back on track. He must have kahunas the size of grapefruit.

When Terry the tanned one dropped Bowden - there was praise - he was drawing a line in the sand.

When Ross the Kahuna'd one drops Dal - the panickers squeal

Just realise - this is not a message just to Dal Santo - but to the WHOLE TEAM

Totally agree and remember everyone Dal wasn't the only one he dropped, they also dropped probably our most undisciplined player who is usually benched so that the coach can have a yell at him for doing something incredibly stupid. Ross gave both of these players a chance to put in some effort last week in their defensive work obviously what they did wasn't good enough.

Maybe Montagna should have been dropped too or maybe it was decided that he put in more effort than these two or he's on his final chance.

More should be expected of these players because we know they are capable of more.

The great players bust their guts and put in 100% effort, that's what Dal Santo and Milne need to do.

Just cause their piss poor efforts are better than some of the other players giving it their all is no reason to cut them slack, if anything it's the reason they hadn't been dropped yet.

Its about discipline and i wouldn't be surprised if it's also the reason Armitage has been getting dropped (aparently for no reason according to some supporters).

Kildonan, do you really think there is a chance that we could get our season back on track? You have got to be joking!!?? We are finished man. We will be right down the bottom soon. Remember 1993 and 1999, well add 2008 to that list of crash years.

For what my thoughts are worth on this board. StKilda have a far better team than the ladder shows at the moment. I hate Grant Thomas as he gives my team no credit or even respect as a comentator, however as a coach and leader of the StKilda Footbal club, Butters made the wrong decision. Stkilda has the team to attack games not defend. Tonights game shall go down as one of the worst wins in the clubs history

And you'll go down as the thickest tool to ever come onto this board. If you were actually a dog, and not just a dogs fan, you'd be a doberman. Thick as a plank.

A win is a win.

We had 3 players having their first game, another three players who had 29 games between them, and a further three players with 65 games between them - thats 9 players - almost half the team with 94 games between them (an average of 10 and a half games each) and Lenny hayes on the sideline since quarter time aand Luke Ball having been attacked (and his attacker was booked !!!)

I am happy that we won and I don't care this time about the entertainment value - the only thing that mattered was getting through this match and the next match (which I also bookmarked as a win). The injury to Hayes needs to be assessed but is the main concern to me.

Very poor game.

Im over Ross' game style. Is it to kick as many goals in the first quarter, be very attacking, then stop for the next three?

His comments at the end were pretty ordinary, won the hard ball, blah blah blah, all good, but we barely kicked 10 goals for an entire game against Freo who had to fly over here and who are not the greatest team.

Tonight showed how we are both woeful. Wont win many games flooding every week.

Flooding brings the game into disrepute.

Bubblegoose makes a good point. That game against Collingwood at Telstra Dome where we kicked 3 goals for the night was pathetic. Wasn't the only time either.

So Nexus, would playing three debutants and a total of 9 players with less than 20 games experience qualify as a time that we needed to flood?

Not to forget the fact that they flooded just as much as us in the first half.

BTW I agree Squizzy. Sydney are all about the team aren't they? The Bloods. You'd reckon winning a premiership with your brothers would be enough for him.

Hey Sainter, you can try and justify RL's gameplan all you like, but you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the Saints supporters all of the time.

RL is crap, and he has turned St kilda FC into a laughing stock.
